Found this out today:

Nestle-Carnation Fat Free Hot Cocoa Mix has 5g carbs, 17g and 110 calorieswith 1 %milk.

the no sugar added version has 10g and 22g and 135 calories with 1% milk!

I guess thats just a reminder that no sugar added doesn't mean low carb!

I agree witrh you 150%. The "Sugar Free" term is very misleading. Its with this specific product and many others.

Swiss Miss Diet with Calcium has 4g of carbs per serving and tastes very good. I am not sure how many calories are in a 3/4 cup.

Yep, I'm constantly amazed about how we can be sucked into the low sugar stuff only to find out the regular is less carbs.:eviltongu Grocery shopping takes a lot of time because of the label shopping.::albertein And every time I don't label shop, I get sucked in.

They aren't advertised as sugar free, just "no sugar added". The sugar is from the chocolate. I found a website with homemade sugar free products including hot cocoa, then lost the URL and haven't had time to search for it :(

I've seen it both ways.. I picked up small hershy bar that was advertising sugar free... It had 1 gram more of carbs than the regular hershy bar... think it was 23gram verses 22gram... and is was smaller in portion...

Yet the no sugar added jiff does actully have less sugar/carbs than the regular creamy penut butter and less salt...

The smuckers low sugar jelly has about half of the carbs of the regular...
So there are some that actually mean it

One of the things they wared me about in the eating class was...
Steer away from sugar FREE... and Fat free and reduce Fat foods.. and read those labels. The same thing many have said here often.... Thanks to all of you for that too. It helps to keep hearing it... for me at least....

.

I was referring to the hot cocoa in the subject line.
