Saline Trial today..

So, the pump expert at my endo (University of WA) started me on a saline trial today with an Animas 1200. Didn't expect it exactly, but thats fine. Soon as I decide which pump, I'm approved to order..

All I can say about the infusion set is yikes! That didn't feel good. It was a unomedical Comfort angled set. I think I'd definitely need the short version if that was the set I chose. I'm really lean.

any angled set I've tried has been horrible. I've been 10 years on straight cannulas and I can't feel them. in fact I sometimes forget to take out a set for a day after I've started a new one. I'll spot the older set while showering. just can't feel them!

Try the Unomedical Inset infusion sets. They don't hurt at all and each one comes with it's own inserter.

Yeah, shoulda done that today. She offered the choice between the inset and the comfort, and since I typically like to insert my needles slowly, I chose the angled for that reason.

I might have to take this set out sooner than the 3 day trial if it doesn't stop being .. uncomfortable. It's been 7 hrs since it was put in and there is still a degree of discomfort, especially when bumped or I sit down.

Not a pumper, but I don't think it's suppose to hurt that long.

First off, the Animas rep (by email) took several days to respond and didn't seem too interested in helping me.

Minimed rep seems real friendly, but not pushy. I'll schedule a meeting with her.


As for the products, if the IR1275 was out allowing storage of BG and carb values, as well as configurable date/times for carb sensitivity, there would be my choice. They have longer battery life and I like the ergonomics better.

Now, the Minimed has those features, but the battery life is shorter, and a history of case cracking. IF the MM had a good meter (like a Onetouch, never going to happen now that JJ bought Animas) instead of the BD, I'd swing that way.

I'm not sure about that. I was saying that it's possible that it may cost that and it may be possible. The guy I talked to (which for the life of me I can't remember) stated they would see if they could do an upgrade or not. It would then be done the same way as the 1200 to 1200+ updgrade.

I think I remember my trainer saying the same during training. Since she is calling this morning, I'll ask her and post her response tonight...
