Well, I went to my new doc today and she's exactly what I'm looking for. She very preogressive and proactive. She talked to me about things that I guess I should have already know about ie: statins and something else to do with kidneys or something. I'm still reeling! She agreed to let me lower my basul insulin and is starting me on novorapid. I have to go back for a refresher course on more indepth carb counting...am already doind the basics. Then clinic will help me figure out my base amount and my ratio's. She also put me on this new medication called MERIDIA. It helps to kick start you loosing weight (still have some baby weight to get rid of). She wants me to drop immediately at least 10% of my weight and then work on whatever's left to loose. I must admit, I'm feeling rather excited and a little scared. The thaught of doing mdi is a little nerve wrecking but I know it's where I must go, the lantus just isn't doing it completely. Anyways, I'd better run, my kids are getting off the bus in a few minutes, I just wanted to share my good news. Thanks to all!

It is my dream to find a doctor who REALLY understands diabetes, nd doesn't just guess at what should be done for this disease. I do realize though, that it is a very individualized disease, and different things work for different people. I don't know any TWO people who are alike in my circle of friends, who have diabetes. Congrats on finding a doctor that you are comfortable! Good luck to you! Nancy
