Animas Pump screen question

Is the screen totally blank unless you hit a button?

My MM pump shows time, battery strength, reservoir level, and status? icon. Not sure of the name of that last one but if it's a black dot, the pump is stopped.

Why don't you put all your questions in one thread. and name it Animas questions. This way other users would only have to look in one place to address all your questions. Also it would save you a little time. :):hmmmm2:

I can answer this one! Yes, you have to press a button to see the Home screen (time, battery strength, basal rate and insulin remaining). Even so, it does make a nifty pocket watch. :laugh:

Animas does not have this feature currently, and though it's not a big deal, some find the "blank screen" (sleep mode) as a screen saver a bit on the questionable side. I also like the fact that Deltec specializes in other "precise delivery" pumps, such as Dialysis pumps & those that remove excess iron from the blood.

Well...the answer to this is nothing shows. The screen remains blank to save battery power until you hit a button. Then I believe it stays on for 30 seconds or so of no activity/button pushing. This is how the Animas has a very extensive battery life.

The time-out setting can be extended to 60 seconds with no button pushing.

Thanks. I just realized about an hour ago that I could see the manual on line, but I wasn't sure if the screen REALLY went totally blank. my battery lasts 6 weeks on my MM pump and its just a regular AAA Engergizer. not a lithium. they are quite cheap when bought in a multipack at Home Depot.

On the 515 I can see the 4 items I mentioned earlier when no buttons are pressed. There's never a blank screen, is what I'm trying to say.

Yes, it goes really and truly completely blank. I've read that some people get months and months from one battery in the Animas, but my battery has only been in use since late January, so I don't know for sure yet how long my batteries will last.

There's no remote with an Animas is there? My wife is now considering a new pump too, and for her a remote is a worthwhile feature. I only used my remote a few times until the newness wore off. It was just an extra thing to carry in my pocket and unnecessary (I'm not in the habit of wearing dresses <g> )

There are no remotes for the Animas pumps. The only thing they have for discreetness is the audio/vibrate bolus.

I think MM is the only one that has a remote right now.

The screen does flash on then off again every 3 min when the pump pumps you your insulin. Kinda freeked me out when I first seen it. Thought my pump had a mind of its own.

Whoa! It stays in my pocket, so I didn't know it would do that. Thanks for the info, so I won't freak if I happen to see it sometime. :)
