I have a hospital appt this afternoon at the diabetic clinic & I am really not looking forward to it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I do not see the same consultant as last time because he was a rude man. He acted as though I was not there & spoke to the trainee doctor all of the time & asked her questions about me when I was sat right in front of him. If it is him & he does the same today then I will say something...grrrr!!
I was going to ask about changing from the crappy NovoMix to MDI but on reflection may be I should not change until I am back from my holiday in 5 weeks time ( I fly to NZ tomorrow  ). What do you think?

Oh Good for you Georgia. Wow, time flies. That's where your Sis, her
Hubbie and your little Niece :D is right? (correct me if I'm wrong). Lucky
you. I hope that you have a Fun and relaxing time.
Gee, no I wouldn't change my Insulin while I'm on a trip. Things are too
mixed up as it is, don't need the Insulin-changing problem on top. But I
would recommend that you get off the mix soon after you get back.
Control is easier with 2 separate Insulins if you don't mind more shots, that is.
You're right, that was very rude of the consultant to talk over you. I
sure hope that you get a different one this afternoon. Fingers crossed. :)
Good Luck. IF you get Mr. Rude and he does the same thing then feel free
to stand up to him. He knows better than that.
Anyways, have FUN, ENJOY and come back SAFE. :hello:

Georgia, I hope you have a wonderful trip, enjoy your family.
I wouldn't switch your insulin until you came back. If you get the same consultant, I would let him know, you can answer his questions.
Have a safe wonderful trip.

Hi Georgia,
Hope you have a wonderful trip and lots of fun. Remember this: We love to see pics on here. LOL.
I wouldn't make any changes until returning. No better way to ruin a trip than to have probs with medication.
If that had been me, that dude would have heard about it right then. If he does it again, look him in the eye and say "Excuse me. When did I become invisible?" LOL. Of course, I can be a smarta** at times.:-

That consultant sounds horrible. If you get the same one and he acts the same way, tell him what he needs to hear--to listen and respond to his patients and to direct his trainees on his own time. How rude!!
I hope you have a good trip to NZ, Georgia! :sheep: Others are right to recommend sticking with your current routine whilst on vacation and to make the change when you return--there are already too many variables on vacation to add another one.
Have a lot of fun and enjoy the family. I am envious.

Thanks everyone
Yes, I think the best thing is to wait until I'm back before I change to MDI. At least I can enjoy my time over there without trying to work out insulin ratios & so on. If the consultant hasn't changed his bedside manner I'll definitely have something to day to him.
Yes I am going to NZ to visit my sister, brother-in-law & my 1 year old niece - I also have a friend over there that I am looking forward to catching up with. My husband & brother fly out 10 days after me. I am feeling excited now
See you when I'm back!! Take care everyone :)

No I saw a different consultant (phew) & he was lovely & spent lots of time with me - he was so excited for me when I told him I want to start trying for a family! It seems good sense that I am settled on MDI beforehand. Thanks for the good wishes, need to go finishing packing now!!
