Hi everyone :) I'm not sure if this has been posted before. If not, I thought it was quite an interesting read and would like to share it:

Diabetes & the Vegan Diet

If all you eat is Vegans, don't they start getting suspicious?

very interesting.

being vegetarian, however, didn't help me at all.

I felt limited in protein, and because I excersize and run alot, I felt always run down. because I eat lower carbs, I was consuming mostly vegtables, and so I was always running on low energy.

I am not knocking this diet at all - just it wasn't for me. I found eating lean, unprocessed protein solved the dietary problems I had.

I almost tried going macrobiotic - pure and natural plants, and unprocessed foods but with fish. (so soy cheese is out of the question, or processed tofu), but right now, I still feel like I have given up too many foods for my health,(which I did by my own choice) and I didn't want to limit myself even more.

what I did learn from being vegetarian though, is a love for vegetables, and they still make up the largest majority of my diet.

too many people skip meat in their meal, but then eat high fat and not enough vegetarian protein, then wonder why they don't feel well or stay slim!

rea,

You are approaching vegetarian diet the wrong way. Instead of looking at it from the Western perspective, look at it from the Eastern perspective, specifically the South Asian perspective.

Unlike Western cuisine, South Asian cuisine has had thousands of years to perfect the vegetarian diet. The variety of tasty vegetarian dishes from South Asia is almost infinite and you will not have to worry about the lack of protein as the South Asian vegetarian diet is quite heavy in protein thanks to the heavy usage of lentils.
