Does anyone know the "lab" name for the c-peptide test? My doc refuses to run one and I (for my own reason ) want to know how my pancrease is functioning. the only problem is I don't lknow the name and if I did I'd just check it off myself. Thanks for the help.

Google gives a whole bunch of results: they all seem to refer to it as "C-peptide."

Be careful, they keep a copy of the prescription for bloodwork...

Why does your doc refuse one? How long ago have you been diagnosed? Do you have good insurance coverage?

Remind the doc who he/she works for...YOU!! More so than just about any other disease, diabetics need to be in charge of their treatment/control, so if you think you need a C-Peptide, insist, or fire the doc.

Does anyone know the "lab" name for the c-peptide test?

It is almost universally referred to as c-peptide in the medical community.

I have great insurance and here they don't have a prescription for blood work. I have added things to my mothers bloodwork and they've never said anything. I'm looking on the standard lab sheet and there's nothing about c-peptide. that's why i was wondering if there was an alternate name, but thanks

I'm looking on the standard lab sheet and there's nothing about c-peptide. It's not standard to give the test, so that probably why it's not on the standard lab sheet; it has to be written in. I have some tests like that.
