This may be a silly question, but Im newly diagnosed and just learning these things!
Can hot baths cause fluctuations in your BG measurements? This seems to happen every time. Up until recently when my levels were high it seemed to make them higher, but now they have dropped a little they seem to drop further!
Dont know if Im getting paranoid but I need to know!! Ive spent weeks worrying about high levels and am now panicking even more about lows!

Sometimes I just have to choose the lesser of too evils! :argh: I will not give up hot baths and showers, no matter what they do to me! They just feel soooo good on my weary old bones! But I have tested before and notice a little rise when I "am in hot water"! But just being achy can call a rise, too. Eat a piece of chocolate while you are sitting in a hot bubble bath, if you are worried about going to low. Just my opinion!:bath:

I was told that having a hot shower or bath after injecting insulin will help in the absorption of the insulin. something about opening up the blood cells or making the muscles more receptive...something like that. I would imagine it would lower your bs more than raise it but I've never tried it so who know. We're all different so.....

Yes, I find it lowers it.
Sometimes I turn the shower temp up for a while before I get out & it can drop quite a bit.
Also hot tubs have the same effect.

Jacuzzis at the gym have a warning here for diabetics and also saunas and steam rooms! Heat does lower it. More so when just taken fast acting I think....?

I think it lowers it for me too.
It sounds like when your outside and its hot your blood sugar will lower quicker than when its cold outside.

And I thought i was going insane! :D
Every time I take a shower my BG drops, I was like what the heck!
Something else hat drops my BG, a cup of black tea with no sugar. Guaranteed drop in BG, go figure?
I wonder if there is a scientific explanation for all this:confused:
