I am a happy user of MDI. I take four injections a day, but when I want more of that yummy juice we inject, I go for five or sometimes six a day.
:nurse:
say! i like my MDI!
i do! i like it, sam-i-am!
and i would shoot up in a boat.
and i would shoot up with a goat.
and i will shoot up in the rain.
and in the dark. and on a train.
and in a car. and in a tree.
it is so good, so good, you see!
so i will shoot up in a box.
and i will shoot up with a fox.
and i will shoot up in a house.
and i will shoot up with a mouse.
and i will shoot up here and there.
say! i will shoot up ANYWHERE!

I can't respond to that publicly!! There could be repercussions. I didn't mention, but my MDI is with pens (Lantus/Humalog) and I find the delivery simple and quick.

ROTFL... that's great. I'm with you on the sentiment as well, but I had to say... a friend of mine wrote an alternate version of green eggs and ham about one of my ex's right after we broke up... this reminded me of that... I'm gonna have to call her. (her version went something like "I do not like that <insert ex's name here> man, I do not like him, sam I am"

Just remember, supplies are around $3000 a year depending on what infusion sets you use and how often you have to change. And no, making the set last 4 days vs. 3 won't help, it will save money now, but then a year or two down the road the scar tissue will make a set last only 2 days.
Oh, and I hope you running into money doesn't involve robbing a bank. LOL

Hey! Where's the option for "don't worry about it and hope it goes away on its own"?

Tokyo Cate, you took the words right out of my mouth! :D
For the MDI-ers, I wonder what the typical number of daily injections is? I average about 8 shots/day.

They are all sick with complications and can't get to the computer to vote anyhow. :nurse:

I was seriously considering a "perpetual DKA" option, but decided against it.

I just added another one so I would say approx. 6 or 7 for me depending on what's going on.

I'm five--two for basal, three for meals. Then the occasional correction bolus which is thankfully fairly rare.
And then add to that 4-7 finger sticks (usually 4) a day to test glucose.

I was taking up to 10 shots a day in the gut while on MDI. You can see one of the reasons why I was interested in the pump. After about 3500 shots a year, you tend to get a little sore... :frown:

WOW 10 SHOTS!!!
I've only taken 2 a day when I took shots and never had any problems with my A1C test being over 7 in fact the highest I remember when I didn't see my endo for 6 months was ethier right under or over 7 (6.9-7.1). I'm usually 6.4 on MDI. The pump I've been 5.8 and 5.7

Usually about 4 jabs a day - one basal, three for meals. Obviously though it's an 'as-and-when' with the boluses, though I tend not to eat too much that has carbs outside of usual mealtimes.
