Does anyone drink regular pop? To me it tastes likes like syrup and I can't remember why I would of ever liked it. Also, how much do you drink a day? I usually drink a few cans at home and I keep a 2 liter at work (I know, it's gross.....I can't stop). Ha- what do you call it- pop, soda, soda pop, or some other name? Just wondering if anyone else is a diet Pepsi freak like me.

I drink Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi all the time. Probaby about a 2 liter's worth in an average day. I do not drink anythign non diet as the sugar reacts way faster than any insulin can and it gives me a huge headache on just 1 can of regular. I know, in 25 years I'll probly have cancer from the sweetener in Diet Coke/Pepsi. But until then, I'll drink it all up.

Hello, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that drinks that much soda every day .. although I have been trying to cut back! I have been drinking diet coke or pepsi for about three years and I had regular soda the other day and it was gross, probably because I have been drinking diet for so long! It gave me a bad headache as well, I think I will just stick with the diet!! :) Have a great day!!!

I have a bad diet soda habit.. It used to be Diet Mt. Dew, but since they changed the formula to include sucralose (splenda) recently, I can't drink it anymore. Anything with splenda just leaves a nasty aftertaste for me. :puke:

Now I drink diet cola for my soda fix.

Yeah, I'm realy not a Splenda fan myself, either. I tried the Diet Coke with Splenda and had to throw it away :thumpdown. I'll stick to the regular diet Coke/Pepsi

I'm trying to cut back on the diet soda, at least during the week... SO I drink about 2 20 oz bottles a day and then drink water. Believe it or not, that's cutting down a LOT for me, but that's the goal. Honestly, some days I achieve it and some days I don't. Sometimes the craving is just too great . On the weekend, however, it's a whole other story :whistling... I really don't limit it at all

I drink about 5 cans of Diet Dr. Pepper each day. I had a major problem with my teeth a few years back and had to go through extensive surgery to correct the problems. The dentist said it was from drinking soda and not brushing my teeth and flossing. I think that is the explanation any dentist would give that doesn't do research. I brush my teeth 2 times a day and floss 3 times a week. I got a second opinion and it was a complication from the D. The 2nd opinion stated that the soda could have played a role but majority of it was the D.

Has anyone else had problems with their teeth or gums related to Diabetes?

Teeth? Those things you keep in a plastic jar to clean?

I am not a big diet soda drinker. I prefer to drink a bottle of water with one of those "on the go" packs added to it.

Hello Everyone, and welcome to Diet Coke Anonymous! We have a new member. I'm Laura. *Hi Laura* :fisheye:

I love Diet Coke. A lot. I would drink it all the time if I could. But, lately I've been drinking a lot more water because pop is "bad" for you. But, I still have maybe 6-7 20 oz bottles a week of that Diet Coke goodness!

Diabetes affects teeth?

Yeah, I always hated going to the dentists' office for a "cleaning", getting my gums all mangled in the process, and having some stupid dental assistant tell me it hurt because I don't brush and floss enough...Ahem, brush no less than twice a day, side to side, up and down and all around, and floss at least once a day because I have this silly issue with worrying about rotting food being stuck in my teeth (ewwwwww). Yeah, Doetsch, they say that stupid stuff by default.

I'd guess your dentist is also feeding you a load of rubbish by claiming it's your diabetes. You'd be amazed how suddenly, because you're diabetic, EVERYTHING that ever goes wrong is purely because of your diabetes apparently.

Feeling tired after getting no sleep for two days? You're tired because you're diabetic.

Hungry? That's because you're diabetic.

Got a cold? That's because you're diabetic.

Angry? That's because you're diabetic.

It's a total carte blanche for anyone who decides they don't want to put any effort into helping you. That's why I'm convinced that doctors hate it when you've got a good A1C. When they have you as a 'diabetic patient' it's like a day off for them because they can write everything off as being because of one thing which they don't have to deal with.

You can tell that having a good A1C upsets them because then they tell you that you must be having a lot of hypos. They don't thank you for presenting them with 2-hourly readings for an entire month proving them wrong.

I'm a total diet pepsi freak myself! When my kids see a Diet Pepsi truck they say "Mommy, your soda!!!"

Diet Mt Dew was my fav back in the day. Now I drink at least 4-5 can of diet COKE a day. Ewwww the diet coke with Splenda!!! I couldn't drink regular coke if my life depended on it. Even if tommorrow poof I am not diabetic there is no way I would drink reg. coke!!!

I do like the new flavor black cherry vanilla coke and the Cherry vanilla Dr pepper but still have to have at least a regular diet coke.

I think its funny how we say "regular" diet coke. Thats what I call the coke with all the sugar in it.

Shellbelly,

Take a look at the title of this thread, you're not the only one!

As for me, I take my caffeinated beverages hot (coffee, tea) I get a diet coke once in a while when I'm out... but usually I stick to water, beer, wine, coffee, and tea. A diet root beer is a real treat, but only once in a while.

As for "regular" soda... last time I had one I threw up. (it didn't help that I was using it to treat a wicked hypo... but I've not touched the stuff since)

I used to hate the diet drinks... but things have changed and now I'm loving the Cherry Vanilla Diet Dr. Pepper and Coke Zero.... and a bit of lemon or lime seems to get rid of any "after taste"... which I seem to notice less and less now...

I heard that they called it "Coke Zero" to try and appeal to guys cause guys didn't want a "Diet" drink.... funny eh?

untrue scara...they called it coke zero because they already have a diet coke.. they want to make money off of both...coke zero=zero calleries and carbs

I love love love love love diet root beer. If that isn't available, then diet 7UP. In Tokyo, diet beverages (other than Coke and Pepsi) are hard to find, but I recently found diet Cranberry Ginger Ale which is quite nice, too.

When I lived in Canada, I used to have about 6 cans a day. Now, as they aren't really available, I am down to a few cans per month.

Now that I feel my pump is fairly fine tuned, I want a Coca Cola, original - with sugar, in a tall glass with ice. Mmmmmmm....

Oh, it's been at least 6 years since I've had one. And I remember them being soooo good.

Ok, maybe I had 1/2 of one during a low, or was it a 7-up, who knows, I was low...

Actually, for the first time in 15 years, I had one a few months ago to treat a low, low, low (below 2) when the vending machine next to me desk had no juice, but it had coke. I had 500 ml with no spike (I guess my breakfast dose was a bit too high, now). Anyway, I was really surprised at how un-evil it was because I sure find it is evil when I get it by accident (served in a restaurant, etc.). It tasted pretty good and helped me to get my grasp on reality.
