Ok, I've been having these recurring chest pains. They seem to have slightly improved recently, but they're like this:
They're always localized and sharp on the right side of my chest. They do not occur with heavy activity, and seem to be completely random. They only last for a few seconds at a time.
I have seen my PCP, my endo, a cardiologist, and an ER visit, and no one has been able to tell me why. I have had a chest x-ray, an EKG, and my blood work is pretty **** good (LDL cholesterol 66, HDL Cholesterol 60, Triglycerides 48).
One thing that does concern me though as well, is my blood pressure. Recently I have had it shoot up to 176/90, but it goes back to normal within mere minutes. I've noticed it ALWAYS spikes when I'm anticipating the results, watching the meter. The doctors don;t seem to be concerned, but I am, being diabetic for almost 30 years now and a total hypochondriac. Should I be worried? Thanks.
In regards to the blood pressure, it sounds almost like you have White Lab-Coat Syndrome--people who have normal blood pressure go high when they see the doc, or when they hear the sphygometer pumping up...I agree it is probably nothing to worry about.
Right side chest pain...I have had, and have had buddies who pulled a pectoralis major muscle. Feels like a heart attack sometimes. Sharp, shooting pain, mostly randomly. Stretching doesn't seem to help at all. Massage helps a little. How are your symptoms compared to that?

Very similar. It's totally at random. When I do cardio I feel absolutely great, but when I'm just sitting around doing nothing sometimes it catches me off guard. Sometimes I feel like it puts me out of breath just for a mere second. It has definitely been getting better gradually, I'd say. I remember one day it was like every hour on the hour and very sharp for a split second. Since then the pain has become more and more muted and now it just feels like a generalized discomfort in the same area.
I really appreciate your time and am falling in love with this forum. I've needed a good forum to post on since most people left the Matrix forum I was on.

I've had shooting pains across my ribcage, upper abdomen 3 or 4 times in my life. It was absolutely crippling. It wasn't a stroke or heart attack and when I mentioned it to my doc, he had no clue what it was. I also went into a cardiologist to be safe and everything checked out fine. Wish I could help more... I did go out and buy a blood pressure monitor that you can use at home to check your bp yourself. They are pretty cheap and fairly accurate.

i have this. i will be just doing normal things and all of a sudden i take a breath and collapse from the pain. it lasts anywhere from a second to 5 minutes. i had it last night actually... my cardiologist says these "phantom pains" are from my mitro valve prolapse. it's not a SERIOUS condition and 5% of the population has it. look it up. the only thing i suggest is making sure u don't have it bc you must take antibiotics before any dentist visit otherwise you could risk fatality (and bc im lazy and stupid, i never take them... argh).

That doesn't sound very appealing. What did your cardiologist say about the MVP? Is there treatment available?

Your blood work looks great. I am so jealous of your cholesterol numbers!
Can't help with the chest pain. I'm fairly recently diagnosed and have experienced all sorts of weird aches and pains as my body adjusts and stabilizes. I'll just throw this out there though as food for thought--I tend to twist all about when I sleep. Then when I wake up I have a sharp pain in the left shoulder or my right lower rib feels bruised. Or it could be gas. ;)
