Almost Everytime I watch that mensfacts.com commercial i get a stupid little remark or a joke pointed at my direction because im one of the 8 milllion men with diabetes. When it come on and says "there are 8 million people with diabetes and they have one thing in common" ...." they have problems with they're love life"
Kinda humiliating to watch that commercial with people that know i have diabetes. Especially when im watching it with some Hott chacitas... the jokes or not fun either.
It's not even true...type 2s mabye yes, only because they dont control it with insulin.

OMG Don't get me started on that.
Luckily I'm with a girl I've been with for 8 years, and she knows my performance well, so I don;t have to deal with the:
"Hey this restaurant is really nice, thanks for taking me out. Oh what is that a pager?"
"No... it's not"
"Why are you looking at your food like that"
"Because it's an insulin pump. I have to mathematically deduce values of the food I'm eating"
"Oh, you're diabetic? (decides to end date)"

Are you aware that many type 2's can control their blood sugars with diet, exercise and oral medications. Most do not require insulin to control their sugars.

tvbabe- yeah i realize it, but not EVERY type 2 can keep a normal diet, plus they usually have the condition untreated for a while...thats why i said MABYE yes

We've got those commercials here in the Great White North.
They thoroughly depress me.
It's like, "...are you one in x million with diabetes? Are you one in x million with hypertension? Well then....."
It's like a ferkin' countdown, "...hey, you have those, does mean you're going to die soon?"
What next?
"...are you one in x million men with back hair? Leprosy? Malaria?"
Just what we need, more reminders of our potentially shortened lives....
Rant over.
Cheers!
Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but ANYONE who doesn't keep good control, regardless of type, is very likely to develop problems in the nookie department.
If that's not motivation to keep those numbers in check I don't know what is!
And guys, you should be thankful. The media is setting the bar *really* low for you... the ladies will be pleasantly surprised, I'm sure.
On a kind of related topic... what is wrong with this statement:
"Adolescents may choose to act as if they do not have diabetes, ignoring dietary restrictions, experimenting with alcohol and other drugs, becoming sexually active, and refusing or falsifying blood sugar checks"
Ok I'm with the author right up until the point when she says "becoming sexually active" I didn't realize people with diabetes also had to be celibate. ???!?!! And this is in a published journal article.

I dunno, fellas...Sounds like an opportunity to begin a dialogue with women you may not otherwise get to open that particular dialogue with...You know, commercial comes on, chica sitting beside you...Commercial says you have a problem, you look at TV and say "What? I'm ready to go right now..." and maybe the chica says "O RLY?"

Ok Todd you got me carried away... Here is my new rendition of the T-Shirt, As you can see little sad faces have been added to increase the chacita magnetisim ratio.
What do you think? old style or new?
Ladies?? does it increase the Puppy love factor? I'm pretty sure that is an intergal factor for the effectivness of the renditions.

I've been diabetic now for over 40 years, and married for nearly 33 (I was a child groom!) I can without hesitation confirm for all you younger guys out there this fact--Diabetes itself does NOT affect sexual performance--it is UNCONTROLLED diabetes which does. The only actual biological fact about male sexual performance and diabetes which I have been able to confirm both scientifically and thru experience is that LOW morning blood sugars will surpress a male's "morning erection" response. This is a common, but not absolute, response. Other than that, nothing is written in stone. I'm at the age now when most NON-diabetic guys are out shopping for Viagra. None needed here, thak you very much, you may ask my wife if you wish--I've never in all our years had a single complaint.
wink, wink...

lol...well thanks for sharing that mick... and trust me due to this erectile problems so on..i will be making sure the sugars are under control.. i need 3legs to walk and live life =]
The shirts are very cute. Wouldn't make me want to kiss you... I'd be like, yeah, so, me too. so what?
My thoughts on t-shirt design in general. Less is more. Black t-shirt, SMALL white letters:
Front:
Kiss me, I'm diabetic. :(
Back
It's the only sugar I get.
Then you'd be styling. So long as the T-shirt fit right.

I don't see why "kiss me, I'm diabetic" is any different / less acceptable than "kiss me, I'm Irish"
the joke is an added benefit.

No one beat you to it. That is just a design I made on one of those "Create Your Own Shirt" websites. It took like 5 minutes. That shirt costs like 20.00 bucks. I didn't buy it, I just wanted to show my idea of a shirt.
I guess it would be kinda cool to create shirts like this and buy them for ourselves or sell them to people and donate the money to Diabetes research or Tony for hosting and upkeep for the site. What do you think?
Wow,
I would love to have a shirt like that, but I would be scared to wear it out incase someone actually DOES kiss me.
Anyone complain if I make one up for my diabetic friend? (one advantage to being a graphic designer, is having the professional resources!)
