Hi all - I'm on saline with my new pump and I'm experimenting with where to wear it. So far I've tried:
1. Pants Pocket - I like this option but not all of my pants have pockets.
2. Bra - Works well unless you have to bolus in public places.
3. Clipped on pants - Not crazy about the way the tubing hangs down outside my pants. My infusion set is 23" but the tubing still hangs down.
Where do you all put that extra tubing?:help:
Thanks!

I use the 43" tubing and just shove it down my pants. When I wear shorts, I loop the tubing into a couple of loose knots. That does NOT impede the flow of insulin because the tubing is effectively "kink-free" (double walled).

I just loop mine a few times, since it's auto-looping in a way and stick it in the wasteband of my pants.

I also use the 23" and I just tuck the extra into my underwear :)

We loop it and stick it in the pouch next to the pump.:king:

I thought I'd post this too. Users of the Animas 1200 series pumps can get this little nifty gadget. I'm not sure how it works but it's suppose to wind the cord up somehow. And it only costs $11.99 plus shipping.
Here's the Animas info:
Product Details: ezWrap Kit for your Animas IR 1200 series Insulin Pump
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Product Description:
Not sure what to do with your excess tubing? Wrap it! Slide the ezWrap onto the back of your pump and wrap your extra tubing around it. It has a thin profile so there is nothing bulky to add to your pump. With ezWrap, there is no tubing hanging out of your pocket and no extra pieces to clip onto your belt!

LOL! I think before resorting to that, I'd just order 23" tubing instead of the 43".

if you use a minimed pump, minimed makes these little plastic clip thingees that let you loop some of the tubing together and holds it in place. i'm not sure how you get a bunch of them, but 2 or 3 should come with the pump

Oh, yeah! I remember seeing that. Just tucking it in is working now since I have regular pants on. Didn't work that well for me over the w/e when I had sweats on. Guess I'll have to dress nicely on w/ends too!

I agree there. I just remembered seeing that one time when I was looking at 1200 accessories and was amazed they'd spend the time researching and creating one of those.

What sets come wiht a 60" tubing? I wasn't aware of anything longer than 43" and I'd love to know where 43 came from.

Y'know? I was wondering that yesterday...Who in the world decided "43 inches" was an appropriate standard for length, and why? What does that convert to in CM?
(duck checks)
109.2cm. Nothing there. Hmmmmmm...
and 60" tubing...sign me up.

that's approx 23-1/2" 31-1/2", 39"
I'd think the 80cm would be perfect for me. the 43 is more length than I need and the 23" I use with the Sure-T's is aggravatingly too short, but I ordered those sets anyway because I'l have NO MORE BENT CANNULAS!!

I wear my pump in my jeans pocket (the little pocket in the slant pocket) or on my waistband. I just tuck in my 23" tubing.

I use the 43 inch tubing. I usually wear the leg thing and so my tubing just runs under my clothes and then if I need to bolus, I just lift my pant leg, and the rest is happy dasies. :flowers:
But, if I wear it clipped on my belt or pocket, I just tuck the tubing into my pants, and I always leave a little out so that the tubing isn't pulled tightly or anything.

In my pumping days, I always clipped my pump onto the waistband of my pants and curled the tubing up a few times and slipped the extra into my pants. That meant I couldn't wear dresses comfortably, but that wasn't a problem for me. Every once in a while, the tubing would settle outside of my pants and I would just wind it up and tuck it in again. No major worries.

I have the 80cm which is what 30 inches or so.
I wear my pump attached to my pocket on my pants w/ the tubing stuck in my pocket. I also put my extra tube in my pants when I sleep in shorts w/ my pump cliped inside next to my body.

I use the MM tubing...is it 43 inches?, but I do the same thing. That is, I wear it on my waistband and tuck ther rest in. However, when I'm at home I don't bother to tuck it in...which can be a problem. Last night, I got hung up on a knob and the whole site got yanked out . Took me aback for a minute, but I guess that's what happens when you aren't paying attention :(

Normally I let my 23" tubing hang out (sometimes it gets caught on things, but never has ripped out) but when I'm wearing dresses I tuck my pump and tubing into my nylons, if the dress is loose. If not I tend to craft a makeshift garter belt and clip it there.
They have 60" tubing, really? That'd stretch to my full height right there. :P

Lynne:
My wife has sewn baby (5 month) socks into some of my clothes. Mostly shorts and sweats. Jeans may be a different story, but for sleeping, the shorts are great. I like to tuck my shirts in. I use 43' tubing. I run the tubing down the inside of my underwear, up and out to my pocket or belt clip. Which allows me to tuck my shirt all the way in. If I don't do that I just run it up into a t shirt with a pocket. A lot of guys wear a t shirt inside out and put it in the pocket too. It may look a little different for a woman to be digging in her shirt to find something though. With the socks you can basically just roll them out. I sew mine to the right side of the zipper with the opening of the sock to the right. I guess it depends on where you put your set. With the tubing I use there is more than enough to reach. The heel in the sock will hold the pump in place, and the opening is where your tubing will connect. You can also stuff the excess tubing in the sock. Hopefully it'll work for you.
