Freestyle Mini

Dont know if this is relevent to the people in the US as you may not have this type of monitor, maybe more for people in UK but i received a new monitor device free called freestyle mini.

Apparently it is the words smallest monitor device and requires the worlds smallest blood sample.

The kit is complete, strips, lancets etc

Although it doesnt do anything different to what i am using, admittidly it is a lot more convenient in terms of size, packing etc

Just wondered if anyone had any dealings with this type of monitor and what they think to it.

I think it looks like a nice little meter but same kind of time to get a result as a One Touch Ultra I think. Problem is, check with your Dr whether you can get test strips on prescription - Boots told me to check before I bought it the other month......have yet to do that tho!

smaller than the Flash? I already can barely read the screen. I have to use the backlight in good light to see the tiny numbers.

I've always thought the Mini and Flash were the same product, just using a different name in different parts of the world. The Flash/Mini seems to be a pretty popular meter with forum members.

I have the freestyle mini and I do love it simply because you can download your results to the computer and then just print off and take it to clinic or doc's. Other than that I find it to be just as good as my bd logic.

LOL! Liz, that's hardly a compliment to the Mini.

Hey Spike, honestly I find they're all a roll of the dice. I mean you can take 5 tests in a row and get lots of play so I take them all with a grain of salt.:laugh:

I can rely on my UltraSmart for critical decisions. Not so with the Flash ( for me, anyway). Others will argue. that's fine... :)

What machine are you using now?

I have an Ascensia Contour.

As the pack is complete with strips lancets, etc it will be used as an emergency spare. I had to take one as they were free.

When i was at my diabetic appointment/checkup thing, they did mention that you have to use their 'freestyle' strips, not sure if they are on prescription or not.

I didnt know if they were a new brand that was launching, obviously from comments so far they are an established company

You won't get any argument from me.. Right now I like my US too much to switch. I have a flash too. Though I did just have a weird test on my US tonight.. Tested, came up 59. Huh.. I don't feel low at all. No shaking, thinking clearly, no problems. So, I pull out another strip, and test again. 100. Hmmmm.. Guess you just have to trust your body.
