that I try Nutrisystem when I went for my first visit with him today. I was wondering if any of you are trying or have tried it? I've been thinking about
trying it myself, and now the doc is telling me to as well. I've heard nothing
but good, even amazing results from people who've tried it so far.

I have heard good things, but a lot of people get tired of the foods. I can highly reccomend WWatchers point system. It truly is a balanced diet.

I don't know that much about Nutrisystem, but I think you have to order all their food right? I'm not sure how I feel about that :hmmmm:... what happens when you get off their system and go back to buying and preparing your own food? :questionm. IHow likely are you to regain the weight?
Like I said, I don't know that much about the system... but if youa lot of people you know have been successful with it, I would think it's worth a shot :) . Let us know what you find out about it.

My sister-in-law was deciding whether to go with Nutrisystem or L.A. Weight Loss. After talking to several co-workers, she chose L.A. She has dropped close to 50lbs since September, without any exercise at all. You do have to buy their food products, which is costing her about $50 a week on top of her regular food shopping.
I know several people who are doing Weight Watchers and are losing about 10lbs a month. All 3 of them go weekly for weigh ins (there is a fee) and two of them have added walking as exercise.
Good luck!

I am with you, Cinn. I am not watching points these days (though I am still following the nutrition advice of a balanced diet, low in fat matched to meet your energy needs), but I lost 12 kgs on it and have kept it off (though my weight has cycled a little bit over the past several months since stopping recording points values).
It isn't so much different than carb counting, though it looks at calories and fat. As a result of my time using WW, I rarely eat fatty foods, eat fish or boiled eggs, or possibly sushi for protein and rarely use butter. I eat far more fresh fruits and veggies and eat far more home-cooked food (so I control portions, fat, etc.).

I tried LA Weight loss back in 2001. I lost a TON of weight, and I never looked better in my entire life. The downside of it (I no longer do LA) was that it was the worst time for my sugar. I was so hooked on the diet, walking around with sugars that were normally in the 60s and I felt horrible. Doing a healthy diet with flexibility is much better!

NS have a Type II Diabetic program based on the Glycemic Index.
I can't bash these "systems"...if they can help you plan a mealplan that gives you pretty precise measures on Carb, Fat and Pro, then to me that is very helpful. You could probably do all that on your own, but it probably takes a lot of time. I guess the point I am trying to make is this, you need to weight cost versus return on investment. It may be worth it to you.
