I would suggest to call Medicare and ask what they need to approve you and approve all the pump supplies. Its usually only a referral from your primary doctor stating its a "medical necessity" and maybe some A1Cs. Jot everything they need to get the approval and start from there. Are u attached to any HMO?

Why don't you tell us more about your situation and yourself. Being that this is only your second post we know nothing of you or your history. You also did not disclose any personal information in your profile. What type of treatment are you on? How long have you been diabetic?

One thing I know about getting a pump on medicare is that you natural insulin production has to be non-existant.

I think pump companies sell refurbished pumps. Also, is there a way to fight a medicare denial? Do you know what blood tests have you had done (such as the C-Peptide or GAD anti-body tests)? These may help to prove to medicare that you need a pump. Is your doctor an endocrinologist?

Since you have type 2, medicare won't pay. I am not sure there is much you can do from there.

As many of us know, it is possible to be mis-diagnosed as type 2. That's why I was inquiring what blood tests were performed.

Bobby,
I would make a small list and go to your diabetes specialist again, if possible. Ask what type of DIabetes you have, write it down.
Ask what tests have they done on you, maybe even get a copy of these results.
We can probably help a little more.....
