The Cozmo can give .05 units per hour as the lowest basal rate. It gives basal every 3 minutes. There are 20 3 minute segments to an hour. Does this mean a Cozmo can give as little at .0025 units at once? I mean, I know you can't give a dose that low as a bolus, but does the basal work that way? Or if you have a super low rate like that does it give it every 15 minutes instead of every 3 or something? Just sorta fascinates me that it is that precise.

The Animas can go as low as 0.025 units/hr for a basal so I guess you are correct. But does it distribute some every 3 minutes in that case?

Ok, can't find min. basal anywhere, but I figured it was .05 since that is the increment.

0.025 is the min increment for the Animas, so I bet it just gives a single 0.025 dose per hour if you set that as your basal.

This is one thing that I could not find reading all pumping manuals. It kinda surprised me that none had info on it. I think you have a very good question, maybe I'll email Animas Tech support for the fun of it.

I would call Cozmo and ask but your thereoy sounds right about the .0025
so then Animas would be less than that.

fg you are correct. the hourly basel is totally different than the 3 min basel. it gives you small increments of insulin every 3 mins that adds up to .05 units per hour...just to clear that up
