I think they've been doing this for a long time. I remember reading about one around 5 years ago. I didn't bother because I could buy ic for the amount of gas it would take to get to the Ben and Jerry's store.

They are trying to compete with Coldstone. Coldstone Creamery just did this about 2 weeks ago. So I think they saw them do it now they have to try it. Interesting though if you select Ohio from their location list on their website it says only about 10 of the 100 locations are participating.

another thing i forgot to mention is that i believe they pump tons of air into the cream as well to get more of a yield ..but it lowers quality

They've actually been doing this since 1979 for customer appreciation. I don't particularly love their ice cream, the only kind I like is the cookie dough - I lived off that stuff in college! But once a year is enough for me, especially when it's free!

I'm with ya, Jen. I love their Chocolate Fudge Brownie.....Yumm!! Cookie Dough is pretty good, too. I don't eat Ben & Jerry's often, but I like their ice cream.
Personally, I've never been a fan of Cold Stone Creamery. I've tried them (as both they & Ben & Jerry's are in our areas), but was not impressed. I felt they were too bland for my taste....lol.
Also, if Ben & Jerry's has been doing their customer appreciation since 1979, then it is Cold Stone that's competing with them, since they didn't start their business until 1988. Just wanted to clarify that.

So would you drive 15 miles out of the way to get some for free? I've never had Ben and Jerry's and the only one participating happens to be about 7-10 miles north of where I work, so slightly out of the way on my way home.

Slightly out of the way, but not 45 minutes away (as in Boulder) for both Cold Stone & Ben & Jerry's. We have a Ben & Jerry's right near us (only a few miles away). Again, it's all personal preference. I was just saying that they've been in business longer than Cold Stone has.
It's a whole thing of people shouldn't knock it unless they've tried it, too. Maybe if I tried Cold Stone again (with the newer flavors & such), I might like it better now, myself.

I guess I'm just grumpy, but why would you even tempt us? Make sure you send me an email when it's carb free though!

imho, one of the "Benefits" of being MDI or pump is that you can "cheat" once in a while and not be afraid.

Once in a while? Hmmm, I guess they left that out of my pump training. I think I don't cheat once in a while. Before my pump days I never cheated, but now, if I want ice cream, I'm darn well getting it unless I'm running above 200.

awhile
• adverb for a short time.
now we have to determine the definition of short
since that's a realative measure, I'd say short is what you make it mean . And I make it mean about once or twice a day.

You know, in my 18 yrs, I've seen sugar free products come a LONG WAY!
Edy's and Breyer's make some GREAT sugar free ice creams.
Estee used to be the only brand on the market for sf wafers, candybars, etc

I make 5 types of No sugar added as we speak...."caramel turtle cup <- the newest", Chocolate Ripple, Black Rapsberry, Mint chunk, Vanilla,
and they all taste fantastic for NSA...we dont just use sugar alcohols either...we have a recipe that i will not mention that originates from a main ingredient in the ice cream that is not a carb and sweetens rather niceley (no its not milk or cream or a )..my dads a genious! =].

Breyers SF ice cream has the same amount of carbs per serving as their regular.
