I know that I passed my 15 year anniversary sometime between Easter 1991 and Mother's day, but I'm not exactly sure when. When I go back to my GP next year, I will ask for that (and some other things I haven't thought about since joining the Forums Fam. like my blood glucose level at diagnosis and my first A1C).

I expected to see more short-timers than long-timers on this forum on the assumption that newer diabetics would be more likely to seek information. So much for my assumptions...

My 22 years was last month. I was in the hospital the whole spring break. I still have the bunny plate they served some cookies to me on and the hospital gown and pants I wore. I also remember when I was driving home from the hospital with my mom we were talking about the diabetes and how I was going to find a cure for it when I grew up. lol

Like my signature says, since I was 11 months old. I'm now 24 and 3 months so I've had it about 23.5 years.

Officially DXed 11 years ago today (or maybe yesterday, I'm a little fuzzy on the date). Looking back, I remember the never-ending thirst (boooo!) and unexpected weight loss (Yea!) starting sometime in late February/early March. I thought it was just stress at work, and was laughing about it being a great way to lose 20 pounds for my wedding.
cheers,
j

A reporter walks up to a man in his early 30s and asks,
"Have you been a Diabetic your whole life?"
The man looks at the reporter like he's stupid and replies,
"Nope, not yet."
