Wow is all i can say. I have had the pump for about a month and half and couldnt be happier. My sugar was good when i was on lantus(so i thought) but now i see how great it could have been for so long if i had the pump. My sugar has not gone over 128 or below 72 in over a week.. And that was eating some things i would always go high with on lantus. Thanks to the forum for making up my mind about getting it because it has defintly changed my life so much.

COngrats on the enjoyment of the pump. If you have any questions about it just ask away, but staying in that range you seem to have it all down pat. Good job so far.

Congrats on your pump and the great numbers. So many people seem to have a tough time at first but you're doing great.

Getting all of my rates & ratios set up was a real pain. On the IP list, most of the new pumpers post frantic messages saying their numbers are going crazy (usually high). Then there are the lucky ones like you. I hate you! :D

rates and ratios almost stayed the same.. had to cut basel rate by nearly 70% i believe it was...dont see how your bolus ratios would change if your using the same insulin

Well, I hadn't seen an endo since I was diagnosed (in 1987) due to lack of insurance for the first 11 years or so. When I did get insurance I just went to my primary care doctor(s). Mostly I was guessing at insulin doses, using set amounts for stuff I ate all the time. When I finally saw the endo last March my log books made little sense, because I wasn't carb counting, was guessing at corrections and just about everything else. The endo got out her calculator and entered all sorts of numbers and gave me a basic I:C ratio and correction factor (still on injections) and switched me from NPH to Lantus. The following month (April 2005) I saw the NP/CDE who did her own calculations and changed the numbers, and also set different I:C ratios for different meals. Then the month after that (May 2005) I started pumping and it still took a lot of time setting the numbers.

Adding to all of that is once I started on Lantus, my BGs did become more stable and I was able to start exercising again and began to lose weight. So as my weight went down all of my settings changed. It was pretty much a monthly thing, and everything would need tweaking again. I'm still looking to lose the last 15 pounds so I don't expect everything to be completely smooth for a couple more months. My TDD is half of what it was when I first started pumping.
