I've noticed on a lot of foods the Fiber is listed under the carbs. How does the amt of fiber in a food effect it's carbs? Are foods high in fiber easier for your body to digest? Any info would be much appreciated :)
Fiber is listed under Carbohydrate because fiber is part of carbohydrate.
Fiber can't be digested, so they can't be turned into gulcose for engery or raise your bg.
If there are more than 5 grams of fiber in a serving, then subtract the amount of grams in fiber from the total carbohydrate. That is the number you use for carbohydrate.
the carb from fiber will not raise your bg.
I think they say we should have 19grams of fiber a day. I'm not sure on that.

I think the recommended amount is 24 grams/day (8 from soluable fiber), though I shoot for 30 or more each day.
Higher fiber diets are good for diabetics and people at risk for developing (type 2) diabetes. If you are monitoring fiber and want to increase your intake, it is best to do so gradually to avoid a shock to the digestive system (excess gas) and to drink pleanty of water.

Thanks for the replies! Can anyone suggest some high fiber foods? Thanks so much!
"FIBER
Dietary fiber may be helpful in the treatment or prevention of constipation and several gastrointestinal disorders, including colon cancer, provides satiety value to the diet; large amounts of soluble fiber have a beneficial effect on serum lipids. People with diabetes would be as amenable to these effects as those without diabetes. Although selected soluble fibers are capable of inhibiting absorption of glucose from the small intestine, in the amounts likely to be consumed from foods, the clinical significance of this effect on blood glucose levels is probably insignificant. Therefore, recommendations for people with diabetes are the same as for the general population related to fiber and a healthy diet. Daily consumption of a diet containing 20-35 g dietary fiber from soluble and insoluble fibers from a wide variety of food sources is recommended."
