vegas link

I haven't had the time to check it out but, a friend said to look at this site, if I plan on going to vegas.

She said the site shows which slots pays off the most, cheapeast hotels and lots more. With a fun twist to she said.

Looks like a nice source, but "Dingy Old Downtown". Apparently the author hasn't been to Vegas in years...

Seems like you are the only one that thinks downtown is a great place to be. Every review I have read says Downtown is still not that great.

Lots of words from a guy that's never been to Vegas...

If you remember correctly, one of the members lives in Vegas and also defended downtown.

Last time I was there. Fall of 2003. And it wasn't that great. Lots of panhandlers and thiefs just waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Maybe it's changed since then, reviews haven't though.

I'll go once anyways, but that's it. No point in it since there's not much down there. That's one reason I like to stay on the strip, stay where the excitement is. I'll be booking my hotel in the next few days. Just doing some final cost analysis.

And where's Bill (wj5 something something like that)? He just went there over winter. Bill????? What's your thoughts?

I was there with my wife this summer and she loved it. She thought it was beautiful and she felt very safe. Show up in June and see for yourself.

Only decent hotel downtown is the Golden Nugget, all the rest are really showing their age. The light show is good on the covering over Freemont Street. Casinos range from ones where you wonder if Guido will meet out outside if you win to some very nice ones like the Golden Nugget or even Binion's. I went to Freemont street at night to see the light show and as long as you stay in the well lighted areas, you will be as safe as you would be on the strip. The darker areas can be trouble.

Best bang for the buck overall is the Orleans. It is at Tropicanna and Arville, near the Palms and Rio, just off the strip. Decent, clean rooms, respectable, decent food in the restaraunts. They also have shuttle buses to take you to the Barabary Coast on the strip. Rates vary but usually are some of the best in Vegas.

YMMV......lol

We went by Freemont Street in November and I would not even think about staying there. I also have a cousin that lives there and an aunt and uncle that go there a lot and they say the same thing stay away from that part of town. So I will stick with what they say.
Also if it is safe Cyborg Why in the heck do most buildings on Freemont have bars on the windows and doors?

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I just dig the strip a lot. That's different then downtown right? I have only stayed on the strip and have only been to vegas once.

T I noticed an "If" in your post. I REALLY REALLY hope you still go. I can't imagine the event happening without you.
