please explain type 1.5 to me!

I'm still trying to learn about this darn Diabetes! I'm type 2...just diagnosed @ 1 & 1/2 years ago....I know what type 1 and 2 are...but what the heck is 1.5 ???
I'm still in denial about my type 2...I was doing pretty good...just taking Formatin....then my sugar started rocking wildly lately so now in addition, I'm on a sliding scale with Humalog.
I really wasn't at first watching my food intake...I know...stupid...and now, I've started going to Mc Donald's and getting an ice cream cone several times a week!
I've gained some weight!
I'm very limited as to my activities, since I had to have two major back surgeries and I'm not allowed/ couldn't even if I wanted, to do too many activities! I can't lift more than 10 lbs, can't bend, twist, walk long distances...and I have to use a cane when I walk!
This is a really bad viscous circle I've been caught up in!
Help! I need to get my self settled down and control my diet and loose weight!
Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Type 1.5 is a term for slow onset type 1.

You need to knock McDonalds off your radar completely. Not even for the salad since the dressing is high in lots of bad stuff. In fact, if you skipped all fast food, your body would thank you.

If you can walk a little, I'd do that as often as possible.

You don't mention any blood sugar testing but I'd recommend doing that at least 4 times a day (waking, & 2 hours after each meal) until you know what foods hurt you and where you stand. Test more often if things aren't right. Better control of diabetes will assist you healing your back among many other benefits.

How about exercising in a pool? It's much gentler on your body and you can do it on your own if you can't do a class. I used to go to a senior center that had a heated pool.
