Todays dr visit.

I went to have tests done today.

During the blood work the nurse claimed that we blew out the vein.
She took the blood from the top of my hand.

Is this an issue that requires me to take some kind of care to the area?

I also had urine tests done.
I had a problem with these cause I came into the office stating that I had to urinate and asked if there were urine tests being done so I could either hold or go.
Receptionist said no urine tests so I went.
Well wouldnt you know it the dr wanted to do urine tests.
I went to the cafeteria and drink.
I drank a 1 litre bottle of water and was able to go 10 min later.
Color wasnt as dark as the first urination so I hope the results are not skewed.

Learned new lessons.
Dont tense up the area where they are drawing blood.
Ask to speak to the dr if you come imto the office with the need to urinate.

Lets hope for good results.

Good luck with the tests. You'll probably get a nice bruise from the vein...

Time will heal the area without intervention. Might look ugly for a while!

That will not affect your urine tests.

I thouught maybe the darker urine might have had more whatever in it.

By the way I remembered the urine test ordered.

The main thing to remember with urine tests is that if it is a fasting, eating will mess up some of the results. otherwise, not to worry about how much water you drink or how concentrated the urine looks that you give to the lab.

Oh darn.

I did mention to the nurse that I was going to eat and drink something before I tried again. She said ok.
Sorry I forgot to mention that here.

I did eat.after the blood and before the 2nd urine attempt.
60 Carb net. A fruit bar, and a ham, lettuce, tomato sandwich.
Was probably less then 10 minutes between eating and the urine test.

I sure hope I didnt completely skew the test.

I'm pretty sure the are not testing bg in your urine. They get that from the blood.

Here are some of the results from my recent blood work.

Component Value Flag Low High Unit
HEMOGLOBIN, A1C 6.2 H 3.4 6.0 %
LDL (DIRECT MEASURE) 71 0 130 mg/dL
BUN 21 H 6 20 mg/dL
GFR ESTIMATED >60.0 >60.0 --- mL/min

What does a high BUN and my GFR readings mean?
Am I iin trouble?
