| | | Spoke with my endo's office.... As the title states, I've been doing some basal testing & spoke with my endo's office the other day. I explained to them that I was interested in doing another CGMS trial (in the past, I've trialed the MM CGMS), but wasn't sure if they were doing any trials lately & if so, which systems they were using. I also explained I had some interest in the Dexcom, but due to other's experiences, was more apprehensive to try it.
They told me to hold off for a short time, as the Abbott Navigator will be out no later than the end of this year. I told them I'm very interested, but have been somewhat "chomping at the bit" for these products to be released. I'm especially interested in both the Navigator & Lifescan's CGMS (which hopefully will be released soon as well). It just feels like these things are taking forever to get to market.
Also, many seem to misconstrue that wanting a CGMS system to track trends means that users no longer want to do conventional tests (via finger pricks). I still have full intentions to continue with conventional testing (along with the use of the CGMS system). The systems can track trends & provide useful data, but I'd much rather do both, especially seeing how interstitial fluid readings will be behind what actual levels are. Plus the fact, I've been doing conventional tests for about 22 years now, so old habits are very hard to break.
The endo's office (like the Abbott Rep.) told me to watch Abbott's site. I have been, but am waiting, impatiently...lol.
Just wanted to give kind of an update on things.

| | Nice to hear the Navigator is coming out by end of year. I'll ask my endo if I can get involved in some CGMS testing. I've participated in several clinical trials in the past with this doctor, so I have a good chance. Especially when he sees my 5.x a1c... |

It would be cool to get the Navigator, but I gotta tell you, all this waiting is getting a little frustrating, especially seeing that it feels like so long...

| | | I have heard the same about the Navigator. I am waiting for one myself. I agree it will not replace the finger stick but to track trens and see what certain foods do to your BS will be nice to know. |

| | | It's not out yet (of course), but I spoke with an Animas rep. a couple of weeks ago & he showed me some pics of it on the computer, & talked about it (to me).
