Thumbs up Taking the leap back to LifeScan

Well After leaving the FreeStyle family I was lost as to what meter I wanted. I decided on the Accu-Chek Compact plus and found that to be a bad mistake. The meter sucks, does not work correct half the time and always reads high. Thus I am making my way back to LifeScan. I left them due to the One Touch being so **** big. But now I have 3 U2 and will be getting a couple of mini's.

Welcome back Jim. I have to say that the UltraSmart meter is my all time favorite. Yeah, it's pretty bulky but I still like it.

Yes I did see your comments and you are correct. I figured 3 fee U2 and 2 free mini's why not give them my money

I had some issues with their customer service. I am the type that due to the amount of money I spend each year on this stuff, that if the company is not willing to work with me some, then I will find a company that will.

Jim, I agree with you wholeheartedly.

I'm the same as you....If a company's not willing to work with me (especially after All the money spent on their supplies as a customer), then I'll gladly go with a company that will.

I must say that I've been very impressed with the recent behavior of Lifescan. The local rep. (who I spoke with about Cin & referred Cin to) has been extremely helpful to both her & I and seems to be "in it for the patients." He's a very caring & kindhearted rep.....Now, if only we could clone or get more people like him! lol

Dew's right. We need more reps like Jon. He is a truly caring person.

I know J & J bought out Animas, but I wonder if it has something to do with Lifescan & Animas being one now.

I use the OneTouch UltraSmart. I'm all about convenience. It stores my blood results, and my carbs and fat intake. The pump tells what I've done with it.

I use the pump software to download from both, and I get nice charts and graphs for my endo's staff to read.

My trainer gave me a new Ultra Smart when I pulled out my old one and she saw how messed up the screen was. But ... the new one has a sticky OK button - you have to hit it just right or it hangs up. And when you put a strip in it takes more effort to turn the thing on - like it has some resistance. I've wondered if that's what the minis are doing - some have mentioned trouble with strips and minis. I haven't torn one yet, but it feels like that's what's happening. I wrote the website about this and have not received any kind of reply. (It's been almost 2 weeks.) Same thing happened when I wrote them about my messed up screen. No reply either time. I like the meter and will use it - hoping I can get another free one when I go back to endo in December - I have 100's of strips in the cabinet! - but am disappointed in their lack of response. Problem not big enough?

You should call Lifescan. I'm sure that they will replace the meter. Just got another free one from filling out a questionaire that someone posted. I never use e mail if I need customer service, because a phone call always gets it done!
