Talking DLife sent me a meter

The UPS guy stopped today and it seems DLife sent out some free Freestyle Freedoms to some of the people on their mailing list. So keep an eye out, I am sure some of you will be getting them.

I just wish they would give out free pumps as much as they give out these meter

Well aren't you a lucky man. I signed up for D-Life way back when so let's see if I'm a lucky women. Although, I already have the freedom.

I got the Ascenia Contour from somewhere - came in the mail this week. With 5 whole test strips. Since my RX is for OneTouch and my insurance company likes OneTouch - I'll just keep this for some kind of 5-strip emergency.

After using the BD for a week I found I really like their lancets. The sticker is too long for my UltraSmart case, though. I'll see what kind of lancing device came in the Ascenia box. Didn't realize how much the Ultra Smart one hurt until I used another one for a while!

The only way you'll get a meter from dLife is if you check on your dLife profile that you want to get a meter. Go to your "PROFILE" and there's a bunch of checkboxes for things like contests (of which you never hear of someone who actually makes use of their message forum who wins -- the winners seem to always be a pre-selected person, at least for the last two seasons)...

I checked for it and received an email that stated, "Be on the lookout for a dLife package to be sent to you!" about 6 weeks later.

Two days before receiving that email, I had received a Bayer Contour Meter.

I thought that was ironic, especially after saying how the Contour required too much time (15 seconds) for a reading and frequently fails on tests if you don't have enough blood in the strip (sort of like the Onetouch, but worse).

As I said in the "Freebies for You and Me" thread in the Chit-Chat forum, go ahead and stop by and get a freebie BOOST coupon. You have to claim you're Type 2, but the BOOST tastes pretty yucky, in my opinion.

I would have rather had a Freestyle meter! ****!! *chucks the Bayer meter out to the trash*

When I first registered on dlife I got a package with a tee shirt, a drop of blood with arms (it was one of those stress buster things you squezze, my grandaughter loved it) and a coupon for a free freestyle, but you could only take it to one particular store. A few weeks later I updated my profile and received an Ascenia Contour meter a few weeks later.

Actually, the only way to get the dLife t-shirt and blood drop and free Freestyle meter (with purcahse of 100 strips, if you read the fine print) from a Diabetes Shoppe pharmacy, is to click on a link from their "Deals and Offers" page.

If anyone is interested in getting those items, find the thread in the Chit-Chat forum titled, "Freebies for you and me." I liked the t-shirt, despite all the advertising on it.

Turns out that dLife sent me a Freestyle Freedom meter, too. I must have an old account on their system, because they sent it to my parents' address.

They also included a survey card along with it in the box, asking what other freebies would be "helpful."

Strangely, the Contour meter came with no such survey.

The only thing I can think of them sending the better meter to my parents' address was because I hadn't logged in to whatever account I have with them in over a year.

I found the same thing to be true of Costco -- if you have a paid membership, and don't buy anything for a year, they'll send you a bunch of coupons at the end of the year for things like free muffins, free apples, and a free pie, just to get you to come in and renew your membership.
