Diabetes In Control - LG KP8400 Cell phone with blood glucose monitor

i personally am mixed on the idea....it would be good because i am always leaving my monitor at home and i NEVER leave home without my cell lol

I'm perfectly content with my pump that has a meter. Otherwise I would use my separate meter.

$380? Hmmmm. Don't know about that. And I agree about never leaving home without the cell, but occasionally forgetting a meter, but I could get lots of meters and leave them places - at work, etc - for $380!

I can see why it seems like a good idea. Like Tricia said how often does anyone forget there cell... For that matter even if you do, I bet it's the one thing many of us would go back for.

But I have to agree that $380 is big ouch...

What I wish is that they would do. Is just put a bluetooth transceiver in the Bg meters so we could upload to the device of our choice.

I mean, my laptop has it,my PDA, and many of the latest phones have it.

just my 2 cents...

Would it be good to have a BG meter in a phone becuse of notes that can be entered in each test. Try to do that in BG meters today.

The key would be whether or not it used the same strips as my other meters. I don't want yet another brand of strips!!

LOL, Nancy! I dig the phone idea, as it's true...most people don't leave home without their cell phone. Only drawback I could see would be price, and am not sure what type of strips it would use (last I heard, the prototype used a litmus paper type of strip or something....not sure).

I'm a gadget gal, so usually would be all over that kind of stuff, but think I'll wait this one out...I'd like to see what other cell phones/companies will release one (not too keen on the Lg variety of phones, lol). I know, picky pick picky, hehe.

This would be best. I am not about to give up all the functionality of my smart phone just to add a meter. Now if they develop a cell with windows mobile AND a meter I'd probably bite.

pda or smartphone with a CFC (compact falsh card) slote that a meter plugs into is what I'd preffer. I know some one made one few yrs back.

This way just because I change PDA's or Smart phone with WinMobile I wouldn't have to wait till a new version with a bg meter comes out to upgrade/change carrier's.

It would be just my luck the cell phone with a meter would ony be available for the carriers in my area with lousy coverage... With a CFC , it would theoretically work in any WinMobile device...
ahh again in theory...
