you shouldn't have to buy a new BG tester - if you're under the care of the diabetes team, then they usually have loads of testers which they hand out (this is where mine came from) - just have to ask I guess.

As far as I am aware all the lancets and test-strips are available on prescription.

You should be able to get one sent out to you if you phone the company that makes them. If you nee it quickly though it might be worth it to buy a cheap one from a pharmacy (will cost about £10 but would be worth it not to have to go without blood tests for the couple of days it takes the new one to come.) Think most of them come with about 10 strips and a few lancets. Thereafter you should be able to get the strips on prescription free and quite quickly.

Just go to your GP's Surgery and ask your diabetic nurse, if you have one. She will give you one, and set up your prescription for the new strips.
