I found I had an old BD Logic laying around. I've been wanting to try one of these Sidekicks.

I called them about their offer and found out a couple of things. First, they wouldn't accept the serial number from a ParadigmLink, it had to be a BD Logic. They wouldn't make the connection that the ParadigmLink IS a BD Logic. Then, after finding a BD Logic with the correct serial number, the operator said they were only giving away one tester, a TrueTrack. No Sidekick. I received the TrueTrack the other day, just fine.

Today, after reading this thread, I called them back and asked again about the Sidekick, saying that the first rep said only the TrueTrack was free. The second rep said, you have to say you saw it on the internet, and you get both the TrueTrack and the Sidekick. She was kind enough to say she'll be glad to send out the Sidekick. So all you gotta do is give 'em a s/n from a true BD Logic and say you saw the two-fer deal on the web and you'll get 'em both.

Their PR is a little strange -- don't they know that BD meters are not going to phase out at the end of 2007? A new company bought the rights. They're behind the times!

But a free meter is always nice.

Sure they know exactly what's going on. They know Sanvita is taking over the business as usual. My guess is they want to gain market share by exploiting confusion, worry and concern of current BD users. Why not? It's just marketing.

I told them I saw it on the internet. The rep actually called me back to ask me where I saw it. I hope I get the side kick too.

I got mine in the mail today. They forgot to send the Sidekick, so I called them and told them it wasn't in the box. The rep is getting it out to me today, he said it was not on the packing list but noted that I did tell the original rep that I'd seen the ad on the website, so I should have gotten it...

It took about a week to get it from the time I called.
