Because of my job (I work in a restaurant) I have a very hard time both checking my blood sugar and keeping them under control. It's really no fun trying to talk to a guest when my BS is in the 50's. I'm looking for something reliabe and small. I don't need any fancy graphs or charts, just a number. I's also like something I can easily conceal and remove when I have to. Any suggestions?

I have been using the DexCom CGMS since last January and have not had a single hypoglycemic episode since I started using it. Different people report different experiences with DexCom. There certainly is a learning curve, and some patience at first is required. It is brand new technology, so it isn't perfect. But I wouldn't live without it. I keep the receiver in my shirt pocket (it's a little bigger than the OneTouch Ultra meter), and I can easily check my glucose while I am driving, something I am sure the other motorists appreciate.

I've been using the Dexcom STS continuous glucose monitor since the end of March.

My conclusion: this is a great product for controlling highs and lows. For me, it tracks the OneTouch Ultra values well. I've seen some improvements in my control. The software is disappointing. It provides no summary statistics at all. I've not yet started to the insurance claim yet.
