Update on BD Products

I came across this update. The Bd link meter will still be available and later this year there will be other meter options to link to the paradigm pump.

We would like to update you on several developments with the BD products you may be using. Over the past several months, BD has been transitioning its blood glucose meter business to Sanvita, a Florida-based medical supply distribution company. This transition is now complete. There are a few things we would like to clarify, so that you can continue to get the products and support you need.

Paradigm Link® Meters Continue to Ship with New Insulin Pumps
The Paradigm Link meter remains a part of our current Paradigm system, as the only meter that provides the convenience of automatically transmitting blood glucose values to our insulin pumps.
BD™ Test Strips Are Still Available

Sanvita continues to distribute strips through retail and mail-order pharmacies and health plans. Formulary coverage levels may vary.
Customers can call Sanvita at 1-800-681-7390 for a referral to a retail or mail order supplier.
Customers paying cash or using a DME benefit can order through the Medtronic Diabetes Online Store or Supply Order Sales (1-800-MINIMED option 2). Orders through our online store receive free shipping.
BD Test Strip Packaging will Soon Come with a New, Larger Vial
This will make it easier to dispense the strips.
Paradigm Link USB Cable Pricing
Effective May 1, 2007, the Paradigm Link USB Cable ("BD Cable"), will no longer be distributed via the CareLink™ registration process at http://carelink.minimed.com. Customers wishing to use our CareLink or ParadigmPAL™ therapy management software will need to purchase the cable directly from us, via phone or online store, for $29.99.
New Customer Care Phone Numbers for BD Blood Glucose Monitoring Products
Consumers requiring assistance with meter or test strip functionality should call Sanvita Customer Care, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-681-7390. Sanvita also has a Healthcare Professional line at 1-800-681-7428. Our 24-Hour HelpLine (1-800-MINIMED option 1) can assist when the issue involves interaction with our insulin pumps or software products.
Finally, we look forward to sharing information about our new meter option later this year. Until then, it is always our pleasure to serve you.

Sincerely,
Medtronic Diabetes

Thanks for the update, Tony.

What I loved about the meter when I was using it was the fact that your BS readings transferred right into the pump. What I didn't like about it was the inaccurate readings (25-30+ points higher) I was getting compared to the Ultra Smart. I did call BD and they sent me out another one but it does the same thing. My concern was the meter saying I was 90 when I was actually 60......giving myself insulin for the 90, and going low.

Bigger test strip vials? One of the things I liked about the BD were the smaller test strip vials.
