| | Latest A1C... I have to admit that I'm not overly pleased with the latest A1C, even if my endo is happy...
6.3
Last time, it was 5.8....This time, I had been experiencing more highs & fewer lows, due to some changes. That said, wasn't as pleased as the endo....I just don't get why in the he** a doctor thinks I should be in the 6s, when I was doing quite well in the 5s!

| | | Sorry to hear that your A1C went up. I know you will get it back down where you want it.
My next one is at the end of June. Fingers crossed for a number below 7.

For me, being in 5s seems to work well and I don't run high all the time, either. While I may experience more lows from time to time, I'm not running higher than usual (like 150-300 on some days) all day like I have been with the 6.3. Likewise, I have gained weight thanks to needing more insulin. How is any of that beneficial? I just don't get why my endo thinks 6 is where I belong.

| | awwwwwwwwww Dew!! *hugz* I too think it's a great number, and actually what I'm shooting for on my next A1c coming up on May 31 (hopefully better than that, but I'll be more than pleased if that's what it is), but I understand how you feel! Heck, I get bummed if my BGL goes over 140! I KNOW it's not the end of the world LOL, but it does bum me a little! Hang in there, I'll know you'll get your 5.8 back, and then some!

| | | I know how you feel Dewey... my last one was up though still very good...it's still mithering me though, weeks later....that's just another delightful side effect of this disease....
When I think it will be higher it is lower and vice versa..I have no idea why your endo would be so pleased either, except he had perhaps been worrying that your lower A1c was a result of a few too many hypo's.... a conclusion that I thnk a lot of docs jump to when they see a <6 result.
remember it's just a number and a short term number at that...5.8 and 6.3 are not that different esp if you factor in inaccuracy possible in lab tests..
keep smiling

| | | Wow, 6.3! But I understand how you feel, and agree that there could be some lab inaccuracy going on as well.
Do you think your endo wants you to be in the 6's? I think considering what endos see on a daily basis, it's very difficult for them to understand how there could possibly be such a major difference between 5.8 and 6.3 in terms of the way we feel overall.
But I'm sure you'll nail a 5 next time! |

| | You hard-@ss, you. My last one was 7.1, and the doc (my PCP, he ran the A1c after I saw him for my recent gastric issues) was ecstatic! Praising my efforts, telling me to keep it up, telling me he wished all his diabetics patients would have such results...imagine what he'd say to you?

| | I'm sorry your A1C increased.
I sort of understand. I was 'lucky enough' to be diagnosed with a normal A1C (only 5.5!) and I'd rather like to keep it that way.
So when my last A1C came back at 6.6 was initially surprised but later quite annoyed.
