| | | I Want The Cgms!!! Was able to keep my bgs steady all day working in the yard yesterday by decreasing my basal for 3 hours, but today I overbolused for my lunch and have been fighting lows all afternoon first a 77 and have lowered my basal for two hours and working in yard again and now I am at 57 , and feel like crapola. I hate this freakin disease. I just want to do what I want to do, when I want to do it, hopefully I will get the CGMS.

| | | It's strange how some people feel hypo at much higher numbers than others. 77 is essentially my target bg. I'd feel hypo with a 57 though...
I also want a CGMS, but I want an accurate one that will allow me to bolus based off the readings.

| | | I agree better accuracy would be nice, but one that catches lows I don't wake up for is worth having.
cheers,

Thus 300 units and the CGMS.

| | | hey all, i am new to the forum. anyways,
i tested out the "dex com" continuous glucose monitoring system about two months ago. i tested it for a little over a week.
it is interesting. i can say i recieved a ton of info from it, but decided not to buy one. the one i used was within 40% accuracy, so it would say "low, or 50" and i would be maybe 85. or it would say high, and i would be not nearly as high as it led me to think.
but.
it does give you nice ups and downs and things like that. there is some of a delay with the unit, maybe 20-40 minutes after you eat and what not. but it does wake you up at night if you are low or high. sometimes the meter freaked out when the probes got a little wet in the shower (even with the covers) and other times there was "noise" (that is what the company calls it) which is when the meter basically doesnt give you a reading for maybe 20 minutes for many hours. supposably it gets better with the more probes that you use, the first one your body is getting used to the probe. no discomfort from the probe, i guess its like wearing the pump adapter part.
overall good experience. cool info, |

| | | I also would like to get a CGM. I have sent letters from my endo and myself to my insurance, but as of yet I still do not have one. I agree with you that this _______ disease is the pits and it would be great not to always have to guesstimate for what you are doing.
