| | | precision xtra I wanted to ask you about Precision Xtra meter. I`m checking my sugar like crazy, at least 10-12 times a day. And it really costs a lot. Precision Xtra strips are very affordable. What do u think about this meter? Is it accurate? And why are the strips cheaper than the others? Precision Xtraâ„¢ Blood Glucose and Ketone Monitoring System
Thank you

| | | I used this meter although it's called Precision Xceed in the UK. I haven't ever had a problem with acuaracy, and I like it because it's small and does the job. i don't need any extra features.
I don't pay for strips so i can't comment on that.

| | | This is the same meter as the ReliOn Ultima sold at Walmart.
It is what I use for 2 reasons. It is somewhat affordable. The strips are about half the price of other brands. And, I like that the strips are individually sealed in foil packets. I don't worry about strips spoiling from handling or spilling out of the little canister. |

| | | I agree with Petruchio. I too, own the Reli-On Ultima & love it. It costs $8.88 at Wal-Mart & strips run $21.94 for 50 & $42.48 for 100. Very good prices & much more reasonable than other name brand meters. The Ultima has a 450 test memory, which is downloadable to computer. The cable does come separately, but I usually just manually record data into Excel, as it's easier & I can display things the way I want to.
If strips for the One Touch UltraSmart run out, I turn to the trusty Ultima for testing needs. In terms of accuracy, it's pretty much right on the money with the other name brand meters.
If you haven't checked it out, I'd even recommend it over the Precision...

| | | I have one of these meters and I really like it. I did not realize the Reli-On brand is the same. Can you use the same strips in either or?

| | | The precision xtra and the Medisense are the same one. Look like some on Ebay are the newer ones that look like the ones sold in pharmacies now and a couple look like the older modle that was out about 3 years ago. They both use the same strip.
I have not used the newer one, but the older one I used about three years ago. It was as accurate as any other I have used. Never tested the keytone feature, so I know nothing about it.
My niece used the Xtra, a newer one in the last year, she liked it.
She is now using the Contour because that is what meter our local hospital needy program has strips for.
I use one touch now that I have insurance. |

| | | I bought a Precision Xtra two months ago and really like it, although I still mainly use my One Touch Ultrasmart. I like the size of the Xtra and the fact that it let's me test my ketones if I feel the need to, such as a sick day. I'm very happy with it. |

| | | I just got my new precision xtra . It is absolutely wonderful. The different between my Ultra Smart and precision xtra is 10-20% but after the accuracy the price of the strips are amazing. (The size and the weight of the meter is mini mini mini)
I highly recommend.

| | | Reli-On and Precision Xtra I have both Reli-on and Precision Xtra meters. The meters look the same. And even the test strips are alike. However, when I tried caliberating the Reli-On Ultima meter with the Precision Xtra coded strip, it didn't work very well. The meter failed to identify the code.
Looks like the Reli-On is programmed NOT to authenticate the Precision Xtra codes and Vice-Versa.
If any one has more information, please post it. Thanks. |

| | | Amendment I take back what I said below. The Reli-On meter actually does identify the Precision Xtra code and I am able to measure my blood glucose now with this meter and Precion Xtra strips, which I happen to have. Quote:
