Problem with test strips - One Touch Ultra Mini

I like my new meter but... been having problems with the test strips. I would like to know if you've come across the same problem.

The part of the strip which looks like piano notes... that part lifts when I insert the test strip into the meter. The strip doesn't go in properly because of this. Impossible to test. The strips are not old, they expire in Dec 2008. Nothing obstructs the little hole in the meter either, I've looked with magnifying glasses. Strange!

This morning it took me 4 strips to test.

Anybody came across such a problem? Just curious!

I called the toll free number and they are sending me a 100 new test strips and I have to send back the ones I have. Can't wait to see if I have a faulty batch.

I keep an ultra mini in my purse, and I haven't had any problems. It sounds like maybe something's wrong with the meter you have. With mine, the strips slide in just as easy as they do in the Ultra 2's I keep at home and my office.

There was a thread on this a year or so ago. I only use mine on rare occasions and have yet to go through two vials. Fortunately have not seen this problem yet.

Are you saying the strips don't fit all the way in? When you remove a strip, is the part just past the "piano keys" partially torn back? If so then I have that problem on occasion when I use that meter. I find it annoying but since I just got the meter a month or so ago figured that they never solved that problem. I just jiggle the strip a little when inserting and make sure that it goes in and does't peel back the top layer (although I don't think it would hurt it if it did since it's just a protective covering.

mg...I've got one too and have no problems with the piano end. Maybe you have a bad Ultra Mini...

Sometimes on my uOne Touch Ultra, i have to wiggle the strip. I t does seem to get caught up a bit. But never have a had it totally not settle in as it should. I have not noticed the problem on my Mini.

Do you have another meter, perhaps one that uses the same strips? If so, have you tried the possible problem strips in another meter?

I have had that happen with a couple of strips, where it either sticks or gets bent. I have been using my pink mini that I got about a month ago , I went thru about 100 strips with it happening one or two times. I have a different batch of strips now and I dont think I have had any problems. Next time it sticks I need to remember to call Lifescan and see what they say.

I haven't had this problem with my Mini but I have with my UltraSmart. I just do what sweetcheeks does. Never had a problem with the results. I think it may be a Lifescan design flaw.

I've had it happen a few times...I just give it a push and it goes on in and works normally. I've pulled them out and started over a few times, too, never lost a strip.
Of course, you could just call One Touch...they are almost obsessive about replacing meters...

I have had that to happen a few time. When I looked closely the sides of the strip were not lined up evenly. I just evened the sides and reinserted the strip. It has only happen on one bottle, but it was annoying.

It only happened with the first few strips I used with the Mini. It's been fine since.

Glad you are able to get some replacement strips though.

The same thing has happened to me using my UltraSmart. I either just push it in despite the edge lifting up, or pull it out, try to flatten the edge and push it back in. I've never had to waste a strip because of the edge lifting up and my results always seemed fine, in the expected range.
