...is frankly ****. It's good for getting results of the meter but if you want to be able to print out a logbook that has any meaning to anyone, or a graph with, oh, I don't know, A TREND LINE MAYBE, it's frankly useless.
Who on earth wants a pie chart of their glucose results?
Is there any better software out there that can read from my UltraSmart (or at least the export CSV table from the OneTouch software) and be used to make something, well, useful? Or am I going to be forever copying values of of a CSV table into my own Excel spreadsheet? |

| | | What type of chart are you looking for? I find the charts in it are very valuable. I'll agree that the summary chart table is useless but that's because of the way it stores the data making it nearly impossible to read if you have two of the same meal time slots. I love the average rating and the standard day though. The standard day I find to be the most useful for me at least.
I agree the software needs some work (mainly cause it looks like it was made in 1990 and never updated), but not sure why you dislike it so much.

| | | Well, I really like it. It has so many different reports and graphs. I usually just use the data log to show my doctor when I see him 1x a monht, but it has lots of options. It is a little touchy running on my new laptop as I don't think the version I have is totally Vista friendly, but it works. It just worked better on my old laptop... I use it to download the readings from my home meter and office meter and I'm very satisfied w/ the software.

My endo uses the software at my appointments and prints out a logbook of the last two weeks to see how I'm doing. It's always wrong - it probably has to do with the settings on each of our computers (mine vs his), but it always misses readings, puts them in incorrect time slots, or whatever.
I don't know of any other software, so I export to CSV and copy into Excel to do all the statistics I want (average, st dev, trendlines). It doesn't take very long anymore, now that my spreadsheet is set up, but I agree, it's **** annoying.

Ive been using EZ MAnager from Animas and it gets the reading and has a lot more than One Touch.
Anyone using the EZ MAnager the new one out?

It took me forever to get it to load and then allow me to input my own info, import my readings from the old laptop, and download from my meters the first time. It was extremely frustrating to try and do the set up part but now that that is done, it's working "okay". I read on their website the other day that they are working on a version that will work with Vista. Mine does work, but was a total pita to get going (hours).

SiDiary can import from your meter and presents its results in various forms (including pi charts) but it can also download data I've copied the blurb about export from their website so you can see if its what you're looking for.
'The supported export formats are text, csv, ttf, html, xml, MsExcel and Diabass, import can be done for common csv, Diabass / Diabass Mobile, Lifescans OTUS-csv, GlucoControl (PPC) and by using the converter tool (of Andi Heitzer) for the PalmOS application GlucoPilot. Especially the export interface for MsExcel opens an unlimited range for data analysis and challenging, well looking graphs'
Its originally a German program hence the slightly odd English! |
