A1C Results

Hi everyone! I got the results of my latest bloodwork today and I'm so happy and excited because my A1C was 5.6! My friends in "real life" are happy that I'm happy, but they don't fully understand what an A1C this low really means. I wanted to tell all you guys because you guys "understand."

Thanks guys!

Wildbill, I check my bg about 8 times per day and use my pump's helpful tools. I'm not scared of having a mild low, so I push the limits of my insulin use. I think I've learned so much over the last couple years and I just try, try, try.

Thanks again you guys for all your kind words ~ they really mean a lot to me!

Hey Menace, in thinking about your question, I thought about one thing that I did differently this round. I made sure that when I went to bed at night that I didn't have any insulin on board, and that my bg's were in the 5's. If I did have insulin on board, then I set my alarm for an hour after the insulin was due to be gone, to check my bg and correct if necessary. I didn't just go to bed trusting that the insulin would take care of the carbs that were still being digested - especially if the food that I ate was higher fat. It did suck waking in the middle of the night, almost every night, but like everything else it becomes habitual, and I'd be back to sleep in seconds. I think that doing this really helped to lower my A1c. Now if I could just stop having an evening snack......

This seems to be where my energy has been focussed lately too. My problem is I'd love to stay awake until 2am every night eating nachos and drinking beer!
