| | A little miffed at the sensors... I am a little miffed at my MM sensors. I pay out of pocket for them, and at $35 a pop, it's da** expensive if one doesn't work. Well, I did fine with the first two sensors.....but when I inserted the third, I kept getting cal errors. I tried different ways, but nothing seemed to work, so I even tried to remove & re-insert (as with cannulas, it's NOT recommended & you have to be Extremely careful when "re-threading" the sensor)....well, even that didn't work. So, there just went $35 down the tubes.
Insurance is not paying for my sensors at this time, as it's too much of a PITA to get them to do so. I probably could fight with them to have sensors covered, but after March of next year, our ins. will be going "bye-bye" anyway.
I just wanted to vent, so please don't take this as an "attack" on MM, people....it would just be nice if sensors were a bit less expensive, so if one didn't properly work, it wouldn't be such a huge da** waste of money!!!

| | | Have you called them? I know Dexcom was giving reimbursement (aka new sensors) for onces that wouldn't last either one or two days (I forget their time frame.)
I always hate that with infusion sets and insurance is paying for them. If I insert and hit a bleeder, there goes $13 down the drain (not my money, but in a way leads to higher premiums.)

| | | I haven't called them yet, but probably should. I just don't know if they'll send a new one or not, but I'm almost due for buying another box. The problem is, now that one's wasted, it sets me back in the way of having to order sooner (but I probably won't order sooner). Usually, a box of 4 lasts me about a month, give or take a few days...but when things like this happen, then it's less than a month, of course.
Perhaps if more competition was released, people could possibly get better prices for the sensors? (I don't know, just thinking aloud).

| | | I would call and let them know, and if they replace it , you will only be out the phone call , not the $35. |

| | | Dewey, be sure to load up whatever data you had from that Sensor to Carelink...the one time I called to complain about some weird initial readings, I was asked four or five times if I had done that, and I had not. Might as well burn that bridge before you get to it.

| | Truthfully, I don't know if I'll even call. If sensors are on backorder, it's very likely they won't have any in stock to send as a replacement....also, I inserted the thing, had issues with it, then re-threaded & re-inserted it (which is Not recommended)...so I doubt they'll offer me another one. Of course, I could lie & say that it gave faulty readings & when I went to pull it out it "inverted," but I don't like to lie.
I guess I just wanted to gripe. I don't usually complain, but every now & then I get irritated, too.
