| | | New Compact Plus meter I have the Accu-Chek Compact Plus (old edition) meter, which i like because it's so much quicker to test not having to fiddle around with test strips and that... just push the button and out it pops...
I got the NEW compact plus meter today! (i bought it, cuz i really likes the look of it, it was only £12 in Tesco!)
Really like this meter, it's black with a nice soft to touch plastic/rubber body, and the screen is much much nicer than the old one. The ONLY thing i think this meter to do with, it's a little LED light near where the test strip pops out, so you can test in the dark.... say the middle of the night without having to turn the bedroom light on annoying the better half! lol
Softclix Plus lancet pen is Excellent IMO, barely feel a thing!
The new case for the new compact plus isn't as good as the old one tho, and the new meter is slightly wider than the old one so i doesn't fit in the old case
Other than that... lovely meter!

| | I also recently got a new Compact Plus meter. I'm really impressed this new meter and love the features. Especially how quickly it provides your bg reading, something like 5 seconds and the small sample of blood that is required. The soft clix lancing device is also a big improvement over my old one. I was able to get the Compact Plus for free. If you visit the Accu-Chek website and sign up, they will send you a coupon in the mail that you redeem at the pharmacy of your choice for your meter. Included with the coupon was also a voucher to return to Accu-Chek for a free gift. When I picked up my Compact Plus, it came with a Frio Insulin Travel Wallet. I'd say a very good deal and a step up from my old meter.

I was quite impressed with the Compact Plus Deal....How could you go wrong! The free gift I received was a hard cover book, 'Reader's Digest Magic Foods for Better Blood Sugar', about 300 pages and this was delivered to my house by courier! Also Accu-chek will provide you with free batteries for your meter and the little blood glucose logs that fit inside the case with your meter. Sweet Deal!

| | | compared to the Ascencia contour? Has anybody tried both? How do they compare in size?
Does the new Aviva compact have the little light to test in the dark? That would have come in handy when i was at a movie a few nights ago!
Also, sounds like a great way to get the frio, but how do you specify if you want the frio or cookbook as the free gift?
Thanks! |

| | Compact Plus Jspirit, I only have the Compact Plus so I can't help you with the comparison. The meter I had before this was an Ascensia Breeze and I like the Compact Plus much better than the Breeze. The Compact Plus uses a much smaller blood sample and you have the result in 5 seconds as compared to the Breeze which takes 30 seconds. I think the new Breeze has upped their results time to 5 seconds now too. Who knows what you could accomplish in 25 seconds!
When I received my Compact Plus, inside the box was a mail in card on which you indicated what item you preferred....the Frio or the Book. I lucked out as my meter came with a Frio in the box and I mailed my card in for the free book. Now if I could only win the lottery! I was very pleased with my bonus offer. Also the Compass software for my meter has recently experienced a price drop from $59.99 to $19.99, that includes the infrared cable. I might break down and order the software...I remember to test 6 - 8 times a day but I'm really bad, bad, bad about remembering to write my numbers down. Maybe downloading it to my computer is the way to go.

| | | Another bonus for the compact plus is that it can read sugars in drinks!!
It will error for diet drinks and either read "HI" or a number for drinks with sugar in them...

| | | thanks for the information! I finally saw one of the new black ones in the pharmacy today. They only got them in last week so they are very new!
It looks really nice but wow! the box was so heavy compared to the contour box. Do you find it heavy to carry around in your purse or pocket? ( maybe there was a book or something inside that made the box heavy?)
I also noticed on their website that you could get a free holster, kind of like a belt clip. Does that fit the new black model? Did you get one of those?
BTW- good to know we can use it to test our drinks for sugar. I am always concerned about that in a restaurant when we are not served a drink in the original can! |

| | | I holster??? I haven't seen that! I must investigate it... does it look nice or does it looks cheap and clunky?
The meter itself isn't very heavy... but then i dont know what you're comparing it too... there is a fairly thick book inside, and two bottles of control solution.
I didn't like the case as first but now i like it, i can fit a spare drum pot in there, and another empty drum pot i use to carry spare lancets in, and the zip pouch if perfect for the used strips (if you dont like throwing them in the bin)

| | I've been using that black Accu-chek compact for a few months now Using it when i'm at work or simply on the go and it's too inconvenient to deal with strips or i need to test using only one hand. I mostly use it for AST testing too It's very handy at work where my hands are quite dirty and i don't want to go away to the pause room everytime i need to test

If you want to view the holster, it is on the right side of the screen when you look at the Canadian website for accu-chek. Guessing it would fit the blue/silver model. |

| | | Accu-Chek lancing devices are my favorite by far. I like the Softclix and the Multiclix.
We don't have the meter you're talking about in the US. At least not with the backlight. |

| | ahh yes i agree, softclix is by far the most painless lancet device i've used or had used on me so far. I think its a result of the must sterdier spring mechanism in the device, there's less "side to side" movment, which is what hurts. I saw it explained on the accu-chek website once

Funny that Canada gets it first, but then again, Banting was a Canadian! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
