| | Bayer Ascensia Contour Cable I have recently changed from using Bayer Ascensia Contour to the OneTouch Ultra 2, if there is anyone out there that needs/wants the cable to connect to the computer to download your readings I would be happy to part ways with it.
The software is free to download also from:

| | I would be happy to have one of your cables. I am using the Contour if this has any baring. I am newly dx'd and have not been able to locate a cable. We live in a small town and this would be helpful for me to load up to my computer to be able to graph my readings expecially while I get to know this "condition". Please pm me and I will give you my email, etc.
Thank you...........Sharon |

| | | I really hate that my first post on these forums is of me begging!!
I've got a couple of different meters -- and I use them all depending on what strips I can manage to get a hold of. I've got an UltraSmart, an Accu-Chek Compact and a Contour. I've got the data cable for the US, and the AC/C has an IrDA port.
Does anyone still have a data cable for the Contour they'd be willing to part with for dirt cheap, if not, free (sans shipping, of course)?
Better yet -- pinouts for a straight serial cable?? I test 8+ times a day and do almost twice as many injections daily (my doctors all say I'm a medical anomaly). So, I've got a *TON* of data. Not to mention, I just acquired 500+ strips for the Contour, so I'll be using THAT one for now.
Many, many thanks! **ANY** help will be greatly appreciated!
Most sincerely,

| | | Hey Guys,
Do Bayer not provide the data cables free of charge in North America? They do in Ireland and the UK.
I actually ended up with two free cables, as I had filled in the requested on the Bayer UK website, at the end of the process there was a note that they only ship to UK addresses so I called the Irish help line and they said no problem they'd send me one. About 3 days later I got two, one from UK and one from Ireland. Unfortunately I have already given my spare cable to a friend. Have you tried calling them, you can always mention that UK/Irish customers get them for free!

I just called and the "magic words" to say in order to get it free was "I'm upset about paying $30 for this cable and think it is a ripoff". Had the cable in a couple of days.
The cable for the Contour is between $15 to $20. If anything, my Mom lives in England. I'd rather spend that $15 - $20 on strips, syringes, or something else. Not to mention, I'm **SURE** I've got all the parts here to make one, but don't want to go messing around with reverse engineering the whole thing.
I'll give them a call. Simple solutions are typically the best!!
**EDIT** -- just checked the Ascensia site... the price of the cable is $16.95USD |

| | | Hrm. They will not send one out for free.
Funny, this is the ONLY meter I actually paid for as well.
I'll just make it more of an effort to acquire test strips for the UltraSmart.
I really appreciate the help here.
If anybody here is electronically fluent that uses this cable-meter combo -- would you terribly mind whipping up a quickie schematic? Just simple pin numbers would suffice.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

| | | Thank you for the offer -- however, "Dewey" has already offered to ship one out to me.
Again, thank you though!!
(I think I still would have preferred to build it myself!) |

| | | I'll take a look at mine tonight and send you the pin outs, it should be fairly straight forward, 9 way d-type to 2.5 headphone style jack plug.

| | | I REALLY appreciate that!
I found a "standard" pinout online somewhere, the meter displays the three dashes, it flashes while connected -- but the software does nothing.
Nothing even displayed when I hooked it up straight to a dumb terminal.
So, I figure I'm missing some voltage regulation or some such.
It is obviously not a "straight through" as I suspected.
Thank you again! ANY input would be appreciated!
Plus, as I said, the member here, "Dewey" has agreed to send me a cable.
Soon as I get that, I'll map the thing out, do a proper schematic, and post that here. From my searching, I'm not the only one looking for this. |

| | | Just wanted to check, my contour has a 2.5mm Jack socket, the cable Bayer supply has two connectors, one is the 2.5mm Jack and the second is an RJ11 (telephone style) connector. Which socket does your contour have?
