Thumbs up Great Response from Roche!

I was so frustrated not to be able to find my meter last night, I sent this letter to Roche (the company that makes accu-chek) I was very happy with their response, and I did find a case.

Dear Mrs. McDonald,
Thanks for sending along your suggestion to our website. At this time,
the only carrying cases that we carry are black. However, we've
forwarded your suggestion to our Marketing Group for review. This is
the first type of request like this, so we really appreciate your
taking
the time to send it to us.

In the meantime, here are a few alternatives:

1. You may want to look into a cosmetic type of case. Many of these
are available at local drug stores and may be found in the cosmetic
sections and are usually not too expensive.

2. There are also several companies who manufacture specific types of
cases for diabetes. A few are listed below for your reference. It
may
also be helpful to search the internet for other options using key
words
such as diabetes supply cases or diabetes travel cases.

Diabetic Carry-All Apothecary Products 1-800-328-2742
Dia-Pak Atwater Carey 1-800-359-1646
DK Organizer Cases Plus 1-800-982-1880
Med-Station Medical Station
1-617-328-4412

3. Here are a few places you may want to look into on line:
http://www.oucmedical.com/products/diabetes/cases.html

http://store.yahoo.com/comfort/diab.html

http://www.fifty50pharmacy.com/index...=CarryingCases

Again, it may be helpful to search for more options on line as this is
just a few of what we found.

4. It may be helpful to contact the American Diabetes Association as
www.diabetes.org and ask them for other suggestions on carrying cases
as
they should be aware of what products are available.

Hopefully, we have given some other options and you will find something
that meets your needs.

Kind Regards,

Deidre Barnett

Are you saying, notme, that you had trouble finding the meter because the case was Black?

Mrs. McDonald, it helps to turn the lights on. J/K
:smartass:

Actually, since with the InDuo, I have both the meter and the Insulin, I always wondered why the case is black since the insulin is susceptible to heat.

Wouldn't it make since to have a case that doesn't absorb heat?

that's great that you got such a helpful reply from them - makes a change from being ignored, or sent a standard reply which doesn't answer your query.

I had a look at the links you posted - I was hoping to see something pyschadelic, but they all looked pretty boring to me!!! Will have to see if I can find something colourful here in the UK - I'm beginning to hate the sight of my black case too LOL

Hey rzrbks, how about a case that works with the clapper or one of those devices that you can use to find your car keys, can't think of what they are called at the moment. Would make my life easier. I carry one meter with me, leave one at home and one at camp. That way I always have a meter.

notme, I have the diapak case, the deluxe one in fuschia. I love it, it has enough storage for all my accesories that go with my meter.

I have found that keeping my case next to the beer in the fridge is the best way not to lose it. If I forgot I put it there, I will usually find it within an hour or so!

One tip for finding a WIDE variety of cases is to go to an Outdoor/sporting goods store. In California there is a chain called REI. They carry a huge selection of backpacks, cases, bags, fanny packs, insulated, water proof, all sorts of colors, materials, etc...

I found a small case that was insulated, had lots of pockets and compartments, and holds everything - including a cold pack. I looked on some of the web sites mentioned, but didn't want to order until I put my hands on something to check it out. It is not too big; but my wife still calls it my "man purse".

Anyway, I have now passed along my only bit of diabetes wisdom, use it responsibly!
