| | | New Bloodless Monitor... They're developing a new non-invasive monitor! Technology Review: Bloodless Diabetes Monitoring
This could look pretty cool if they get the design right... Interesting!

| | | Very interesting. The size of it looks a little big. I hope they are able to scale it down to the size of a small meter already on the market.
Hope you don't mind if I share this info on another site that I belong to.

| | | When test strips cost a dime, then... We'll know that bloodless glucose monitoring is ready for primetime when the cost of test strips drop to a dime each. |

| | | That's a pretty cool development. I wonder if they thought about a way to get insulin into you by way of a patch like a time release nicotine patch? Take the needles out completely. |

Had a peek at your link, a great innovation, I like it, well! it looks like it won't be long, before those days of pricking are over.

| | | yeh i thought it looked cool (the concept) the actually device display is only a prototype so i doubt that's what it will look like...
I imagine it looking like a normal glucose meter with just a "cutout" at the bottom of the thumb reader.
How great would it be just to pull it out of your pull and stick your thumb on it... bam, result. No pricking, no fiddling with test strips... no need to buy test strips!! just the meter and your off!

| | | After reading this thread I started to look online to see what other non-invasive meters are being worked on. The GlucoWatch kept coming up and seemed to be all a buzz earlier in 2000 but nothing since 2004. Does anyone know what happened with this? Are they still doing research or did something happen?
Just wondering... You'd figure in this day and age when they can shoot down a satellite in space or your car can parallel park for you they would have a non-invasive methods for checking your blood with out a needle, geees, where the Star Trek's Triquarter |

| | the gluco watch was pulled off the market in 2007, i think it was too in-accurate most of the time.
Im all up for the non-invasive blood tests, it's something i like to keep my eye out for.
There is another gluco-watch type monitor that's in development called the glucoband (original i know). Im not sure what's happening with that now.. do a serach for it... last i checked they hadn't updated the website in a while.. might be a lost cause

| | It sounds neat and I hope they can produce an accurate model at reasonable cost.
I don't get the "people not testing because of the pain" thing, however. I mean really, how much does it hurt?

| | Good to see you back on Stu, I was wondering where you went too. I have been away myself for a while.
Still seeking the uninvasive BG monitor ey? Just give us cell technology already and let the d@#m cells do the work! |

| | | If I've learned nothing else in 40 years of type 1, it's that my body is *profoundly* different from everyone else's. One person's little prick is another's terrifying cut. It also may be part of bigger fears about being diabetic--who knows? Why waste time judging? |
