Accu-check Aviva VS Ascensia Breeze2

Hi there,

I am new to your board, which is very interesting and full of knowledgable infos. After browsing all evening I still have a couple of questions.

I have the Aviva and the Breeze2 monitors. Each time I test, I get lower values on the Aviva than on the Breeze2 (approx. from 0.5 to 1 mmol/L lower). My question is, which value should be closer to lab results? I don't have diabetes, but because of genetics I am checking my blood sugar regularly.

Also, is the fact that I take meds about 3 hours before I do get up to check my fasting blood sugar can falsify the result? The meds in question are Wellbutrin XL, and Lozide. Reasons I take the meds earlier then when I get up is because I do work late and usually sleep until 11am, and I do have to take my Wellbutrin early so it doesn't give me insomnia at night.

Thank you in advance for your help!

M.A.

Honestly, the lab result would probably be somewhere in the middle. The difference you're seeing is normal and totally acceptable. Your best bet is to take the meters to the lab and compare next time you get blood work done.

I wouldn't see any of those meds affecting your fasting bgs.

Hi MarieAnnie and welcome to the boards! Browse some of the threads here in the Monitoring category. The one unanimous theme is monitor accuracy. I'd say you're getting good results. It's a constant crazy-maker.

Good for you for checking your blood glucose (BG) regularly and I most sincerely hope you never develop this disease.

Scrabblechick I did browser through the "monitoring" category, but didn't see anything regarding the Aviva and Breeze2 together, so I thought I'd ask )

Thank you so much Funnygrl and Scrabblechick for your responses, I really appreciate it.
