| The purpose of Lantus is to keep your blood glucose down in the absence of food . If your blood glucose is going up and staying high after eating, it could mean three things. Either you aren't using enough Lantus to satisfy your basal insulin needs, or you didn't inject enough insulin to cover your meal, or both.
In the short-term you need to correct those blood glucose excursions with extra Novolog. But you really need to understand why they are occuring so that you can modify your insulin dosing in such a way that they don't happen anymore. Doing this requires the basal testing I refered to in my previous post.
