CGMS - Sensor Manual Insertion

Anyone insert sensors manually??

I put in a new sensor before bed last night, by hand. I looked EVERYWHERE for the serter, to no avail. It was a VERY uncomfortable feeling for me, it just didn't want to go in. It didn't hurt, but it sure was weird!

I can do quick-sets manual, no problem... but the sensor was something else....

My trainer said never to do it manually. I hate that darn inserter, but I lack the balls to put that thing in by hand regardless. If I couldn't find the serter I would pass on inserting it at all.

I've done in manually once when I couldn't find the serter. It wasn't painful, just a bit of a pin prick, and there was, thankfully, little bleeding. However, the sensation of doing it was awkward. The long, heavier gauge needle along with the 45 degree insertion angle made the process interesting. There was a lot more resistance than I was expecting and a good bit of pressure was required.

Overall I'd do it again if needed but I'd rather use the serter.

You must be crazy! I think it hurts even WITH the serter. I must be a wimp, good thing I'm getting good milage out of the sensors.

! I'd spend the next few hours looking for the serter instead.

Hmm... I wonder if mine did too... I seemed to know more than my trainer at the time, so I kind of tuned her out...

I will definitely find the serter, or get a new one before the next sensor. Although just coincidence, this first day has been super accurate.

I did it manually once. It was very difficult to push through my skin and required a lot of force, which really gave me the willies. Ew! I insert my Silhouettes manually, but for the sensors, I definitely prefer using the serter.
