MM CGMS users; how long do these transmitters last?

I got my transmitter in late July 2008...in the last few weeks, I've noted a couple squirelly things (nothing to really mention) but it suddenly occurred to me that I am way past the 6 month warranty. So, how long have all y'all made your transmitters last?

uh... that's a good question... I got mine at the same time (July 07 as July 08 hasn't happened yet Duck!). I haven't noticed any issues, but that's a really good question.

I'll add another, hopefully someone can answer as well. Do you have to pay for another one or can you exchange it?

Oh, I bet my eye teeth MM will make us pay for a new one.

July 2007? **** it, who switched up my calendar on me? No wonder there was no one at the voting precinct last November when I went to vote for Dennis Kucinich...

I remember hearing someone mentioning, either here or on Yahoo, that Minimed sent them a new one, considerably past the 6 months, without hassle... Wish I could remember who. Hopefully that will remain true...

Once the transmitter dies, the customer has to buy a new one from Minimed at the price of $649. I can only hope that my insurance (Blue Cross) finally comes around and starts to cover the CGMS soon so that I don't have to pay for a new transmitter, but they do not seem to want to move off their stance that the CGMS is still experimental. $350 a pop for the sensors is already hurting.

Minimed will update you to the new MiniLink Transmitter which has a rechargable battery and is half the size of the old transmitter. I ordered the new transmitter as soon as it was released due to the size difference. I can't recall what the price was but it was way less than $600.

Yes, to "upgrade" from the old transmitter to the minilink was roughly $350 if memory serves me. But, once the minilink dies, it will cost $649 to replace it.
