If you do go backwards, please make sure no one is standing behind you.

According to the manufacturer:

"It's not exactly the same as a blood sugar level, but the measurement should provide correlative evidence as to how much sugar is running rampant in one's blood stream."

Surely it indicates how much sugar is in the urine which is body waste and therefore could not accurately show current BG levels. Is this not something that would be used by Doctors/Hospitals in conjunction with blood testing and not instead of blood testing.

Aside from that I don't my work colleagues, friends or family would be comfortable with me testing in front of them if I had one of these

It seems that they're taking a Giant leap backwards with that (talk about a total waste of money!)! I remember doing urine tests & it was not only annoying, but inaccurate as well (it gave a "range" of what the BG might be!). Granted, I'm not saying BG meters are accurate 100% of the time ('cause they're not), etc., but I'd trust a blood reading over a urine sample any day of the week.

I remember when all my Dad had to check his BG was the urine strip. The more glucose in the urine, the darker green it turned which, of course, meant the higher your BG. It wasn't perfect, but it was all that was available.

Like Dewey, I'll take a BG meter reading over a urine strip any day!

Well well. That's a blast from the past.

Why would anyone advocate urine testing? It was never accurate for me. I could be diving into a hypo and my urine would test Four Plus (the highest.) Some doctors claimed I had a "low renal threshold." I think I just hadn't gone for a while and was showing results from my last meal.

We had a name for the days of urine testing. We called it GUESSING.

Bah Humbug.

Would be nice if it was testing reneal function. But it would limit where you could test! Or at least where I would test. Man I got really good at using my meter while driving down the road... maybe that's why the doc doesn't let me drive anymore.
