hitting lows

Ok. for about a week by now I'm barely over 4.0
as low as 2.8(and not feeling it )
insulin went down from 38X32(morningXsupper) to 28X18
gradually of cause. last 2 days increased amount of food by 2(all good foods) and almost cut off exercise - same thing
BG meter is fine, had it checked agaist the lab - meter was higher by 0.1(freestyle freedom). can't get an sane answer from family doc, nor from DE.

Not sure how long you've had diabetes but it sounds like a classic honeymoon period with your pancreas functioning at nearly normal capacity. If you are a long time diabetic, this is less likely but if newly diagnosed, quite a realistic possibility. I'd keep exercising and cut back food to normal levels and cut the insulin way back or even to nothing. Test frequently because if it is a honeymoon, we all know they don't last! They also can change character day to day and week to week.

High sugars are bad long term but lows can kill you quick

Call your doc for confirmation.

When you you say you've "increased your amount of food by 2" what do you mean exactly? And what are you eating? If you're eating more protein, for example, you'll not affect your BG at all.

I find that different times of the year mean I need more or less insulin, depending on where I am at in my "sports phases".... Contrary to a lot of people, I find i need less insulin in the winter, mostly because I play a lot of hockey then.....
