Free Style Promise

This is a new program by Free Style. You can get some of your co-pay ($15) PAID by FreeStyle if you have insurance (1 time a month) or if you are uninsured, you can get $50 off of a box of Freestyle test strips per month (probably on 100 strip box) making each box half price.

They will send you a card in the mail. To find out about the program, call 1-866-246-2683 or visit FreeStyle Promise™ to get a card. The card I got expires on 12-31-09.

Thank you for the info. I just called and applied, my card and another mini lite is on the way. The rep I got was very polite and talked in detail about every part of the program... whew! That's okay, for the savings in strips its worth the 10 minute phone call. Thanks again.

Are there income qualifications or is it just given to anyone? I sure could benefit from this program as my insurance doesn't quite cover all the strips I use. I test about 7-8 times a day and insurance is only covering about 6 per day. I'll call them for sure!

They didn't ask me about income, but she did mention the fact that I don't have insurance at least 6 times. She also asked how many times a day I test. I mentioned I have a new lite meter and my old freestyle I bought before I was diagnosed for I think $10. It had a rebate, but you had to have a script, no big. When I did she said she was sending me another lite to use in my vehicle instead of the old freestyle. At the end of our conversation, I had to bring it up and she rattled off both styles and all there benefits and I told her I'd like the little one with the lights. She said how it works is I pay the first $15 then the card pays $25 on a 50 pack or $50 on a 100 pack and then I pay the balance. You can use it once a month. I asked if it works at Costco and she said yes that it works at all pharmacy and if they have questions there's a number on the back they can call. With insurance I would think that it's like buying a pack cash with Abbott picking up some of the tab. Good Luck

Hey as far as Canada, I thought all your medical is covered. My plan was if I ever get too sick, I'll go, set up residence and get a health card in 90 days. Now it looks like I have to go to the UK or learn to speak French.

Well, I got rejected. I tried, but apparently my copay is too low and since I have insurance I basically have to pay retail price even though my insurance doesn't cover 100% of my test strip needs. Oh well. At least Abbott is trying to help defray some of the cost from those who don't have insurance or those who have larger copays. It was worth a shot.

If you don't mind me asking, how much is your co-pay? Mine's $25 for a 25day supply (100 strips)

Thanks

They sent me a meter out of the blue and also sent me this card. I use a medical supply company that does not balance bill, using them I have no out of pocket for my strips, insulin and stuff for my pump. They just take what my insurance pays them.

The only other benefit I see from what I have read is they will send you a free meter when a new one hits the market.

I think this would be a good program for the uninsured or non insured.
